How much time do you spend on RPGs?

Planning, drawing, reading game books posting and playing-
15 to 20 hours a week(sometimes more)...for 25 years that'd be about 23,000 hours.

I spend quite a lot of time on boards, 'cause I can leave them open whilst I'm doing work. I haven't had any time for gaming at all since I moved to the UK, but I'll get some in once I'm back in the States -- I'd say maybe 15 hrs/week, there.

a little bit more than this. :heh:

say 25-30hrs per week(sometimes more)...

Far too much I reckon... Ah well.

Much of it's when it's quiet at work, so I don't feel (overly) guilty. Except when my campaign suffers if we get a rush of work.

But I find RPG intrudes on my thoughts when I'm doing other stuff...

At least I guess it's a healthier than a substance addiction? Even if the monetary costs are similar. :)

WOW! The responses to this have been great - I feel much better now that I realize I'm not the only one. :D

I'm still not going to figure out how much time I spend doing this though. I'm afraid someone will have me committed. :uhoh:

Lets Figure the Time

Hi all-
I think we all spend more than 15hrs a week playing and planning.
My game starts at 3pm and ends around midnight. That's 9 hrs. Add another hour just prior to that with vacumming, pulling out the table and moving the Ferrets out of the room, that's 10. Throughout the week, I'm at EN World, WotC, CanonFire and whatever else is 'major news' for the day. That's about 30-45min. a day. That's 3 1/2 hours making it around 13 1/2. Reading and responding to various posts is another hour per day. Making it 20 1/2 hrs. And having not had a real job for the past 4 months - I've spent way more than that - likely 2-3x as long on each area.
But that doesn't even include the actual making of npc's in eTools, reading Dungeon or Dragon, planning the adventure, or painting the minitures. Making npc's and whatever other eTools / by hand stuff is about another good hour, reading the potential plot lines in Dungeon and taking what is wanted another 2 hrs, reading Dragon another 2 hrs, and each miniture takes me about 4 -5 hrs (I try to paint one per week).
I'd say that D&D is a full time job, and I often joke that I'm a Professional Amateur Gamer. But now with classes and a job, I can't spend that much time. More pre-made adventures here we come.

What are your realistic times?

Lately I have really ramped up the amount of time I'm spending preparing for the game...I'd have to say at least a couple hours a day of reading/thinking/actual prep. Coupled with the 5 hours of actual gaming every week, I guess that comes to about 17 hours a week.

The amount of time I spend on this site has gone up lately too (work slowdown), probably a couple hours a day.
