How Overpowered Is This Cleric Adjustment?

First Post
There are two main goals behind my cleric adjustments below. Firstly, i wish to make clerics of different gods more distinct, and more likely to display domain spells. Secondly i wish to give the cleric a smidge more versatility. And yes, this is blatently swiped from Arcana Unearthed.

• Clerics cast spells spontaneously, but from a limited pool, similar to a Sorcerer. Each day they must spend an hour meditating and choose a number of spells from the Cleric Spell List to Ready. They may Ready a number of spells per day as drawn from the Sorcerer’s “Spells Known” chart (extending the 1s for spell levels 2-9 up one additional level). They may cast any spell they have readied with any of their open spell slots (as per the Cleric “Spells Per Day” chart), including their domain slot.
• Clerics are always considered to have both of their Domain spells readied.
• Good or neutral clerics that choose to channel positive energy are always considered to have Cure spells readied. Evil or neutral clerics that choose to channel negative energy are always considered to have Inflict spells readied.

And i realize that having both Domain and Cure spells readied for free makes the healing domain a poor choice, but that's what you get for a first draft.

Thanks,
Dry

Hmm, looks like AU.

I think a sorcerer knows approximately as many spells as a normal cleric can cast per day... so the cleric could essentially prepare the usual amount of spells but choose freely among them how often he casts which one?

Pretty strong.

Does the strongest class in the game really need more boosts?

Take a look at the Spirit Shaman (Comp.Divine) -- readies up to 3 spells per spell level each day, casts spontaneously as often as a Cleric would cast, and gets other goodies that make up for the loss of Wild Shape and other stuff. All in all, balanced with the Druid, which is balanced with the Cleric IMHO.

I'd allow a Cleric who used the same mechanic, but who always had Cure spells readied and could spontaneously cast one Domain spell per spell-level each day (from either Domain).

I like the idea, and I do not think it is overpowered as is. Making a Cleric choose their spells as a sorcerer would tone it down a bit.

Also, you could always alter the Healing Domain to grant +5 to the cap on all Cure spells.
