Coming off of a single 3½-hour combat last night. Yeah, you could say that ;)

Y'know, I suspect 4ed will be faster but not THAT much faster. Y'know, like shave an hour off that combat or something.

That would fall under, "I don't know if I will switch."

This poll isn't looking good for the "4th edition is a sign of the apocalypse" crowd. 15 people out of 228 so far have voted "Never!!!!" Too bad I don't think that will do anything to prevent them from trying to speak for all of us!

Actually while thats true.....its not going gang busters for the 4e change either. You seem to wish to silences any disent there with that last line.

The majority are saying....."I dont know if I will yet". If its splits evenly into yes and no on the release.....1 in 4 of your fan base not making the jump isnt a great thing.

For myself......undecided, but falling into the "probably not" crowd. Between much invested, the DM saying he's not switching, and not quite liking what I see.

Well, I voted 'as soon as more stuff is available' but only because that'll probably be the case when the German translation of the PHB is available.

There's another factor that will keep me from converting as soon as the English 4E core rules are out: I have to finish my 3E campaign first.

I'm even considering to play another 3E campaign after my current one. So it's possible I'm actually going to skip the whole edition. Ultimately it will depend on my players' preferences.

I'd be fine to switch to 4E as soon as it's available but it just isn't practical in my case.

Plurality.

But that's not likely. I'd bet a lot that it'll end up breaking 90/10 in favor of switching by 2010... and that at least 1/4 of the Never! crowd will have switched if they're still actively playing.

A plurality of us either have some skepticism, aren't the primary decision maker in what our groups play, or just don't like the idea of changing editions mid-campaign. Myself, I've got a little bit of mechanical skepticism, a lot of flavor skepticism, a lot of optimism that Eberron flavor won't change, think it's unlikely that June will line up with a campaign ending for my group, and I'm rarely the GM/DM for my group. So I'm in the "I don't know if I will yet" group, but I strongly suspect I'll switch, if not right away.

Poll again in 6 months. April it will be about then, 2 months from kick off and see if folks like what they hear more.

Who knows. I know as a group of 7, we're saying no. But that can change. But we're not liking what we hear so far.

One could then argue thats the case in the hell yes catagory too. The vast mjority arent the decision maker in what your groups play and so on......

You cant have it both ways.

Oddly, D&D is one of the few games where I *don't* feel I need supplemental material. It usually feels playable to me with the three core books. Other favorites (like Shadowrun) have moved towards that model, but still often feel to me that they aren't fully playable until I have the major "splat" books to support the system.

I plan to hit the convention and play in February, and then hopefully get my players through the intro adventure in May so we are ready to hit the ground running in June.

I love trying new systems but I still haven't seen much of anything in 4E that really impresses me as being either an innovative mechanic or an impressive gaming element. Of course I found 3E easy to play, adaptable, and simple to use on the fly. Apparently I'm both in a minority amongst 3E players and not part of 4E's target market.

Likewise, I've never had anything I'd call a problem with 3.x. I've been playing since 75 and adapted D&D stuff to RQ and RQ to D&D, even a bit of Tekumel. So it would take a big bump in the rules to make me say ow!

It seems they are fixing things they are not broke in an effort to sell more books. Add to that the changes like martial powers are to jedi/oriental mystical and it's no longer High Fantasy or D&D to me.

My group is happy with 3.5 and won't be changing. I'm taking it one step further and boycotting all wotc/hasbro products.

To what end? I can't tell if you mean WOTC-made Hasbro products or all WOTC and Hasbro products.

If it's the latter, then I am guessing that won't play Monopoly with your kids or watch the Transformer movie or buy Playskool toys for a child's birthday or throw a Nerf football to your son/nephew/friend. These are all Hasbro products too.

Not trying to start a big argument here, but for me it is a totally new game irregardless of the name on the cover, so whether I buy into it or not will depend on all my usual parameters for buying any new game.

Add me to those choosing "I don't know if I ever will", but leaning heavily towards "never" at this point. As of this moment, I have read very little that makes me want to change, but there is still plenty of time for WOTC to win me over. I doubt it will happen as I have disliked pretty much both everything that has been said to have been testing grounds for 4e material and nearly every change revealed about 4e, but I refuse to rule out the possiblity of WOTC winning me over.
