How Would You Make the Greatest Swordsman Ever?

... with an extra partial action of +32 (no TWF penalty because no full round action to fight with both ends)

Hrmm... is that spelled out anywhere?

That feels like a Haste-partial-action-is-a-different-round-theory application.

Do you allow two 5' steps with Haste?

Nope.

Rules wise, it takes a full round action to attack with two weapons, you can't do that in a partial action. If you can't attack with both weapons, you don't have to take the penalties for both weapons.

However, power attack and expertise or the like I would enforce until the beginning of next round, as I did there with frenzied attack. That way, they still affect attacks of opportunity.

Maybe I'm screwy, but that's the way I'd run it.

Consider a cleric 5/spell-dancer 1/divine disciple 3/Templar1/Fighter (Or other PrC) 10. I'd personally go fighter 4, living blade (from Quint. Fighter) 5, Sorcerer 1 (to get True Strike and something else)

Really. :) It sounds insane. But:

You can cast persistant divine favor, divine power, extended maximized empowered Bull's Strength and Endurance and Greater Magic Weapon every morning with your spell dancing. At that point, you're equal to a fighter at your level. You have +3-5 on your weapon inherent, so you a +5 flaming shocking keen vicious bastard sword (Negative energy protection is needed here too). You can cast magic vestements and shield of faith on your clothes. You then get a few more cleric spells (searing light, inflict wounds, etc) to play with, as well as kicking much booty as a fighter. You're playing a cleric of war and planning, with favored weapon bastard sword, and you added Strength or Celerity or Mysticism as your bonus domain. You can grant spell abilities to your allies, you can beat things to a pulp! It's all good, mon! ;) Your feats will be fairly restricted, granted, at least at the start - they will all be going towards the spelldancer requirements, and then to metamagic. All you need, though, is ewp (BS) to use it one handed, and then improved weapon focus if you want. But living blade grants that to you anyway.

I noticed Oni mentioning a Iaijutsu-based swordsman, so I thought I'd post my version of a Iaijutsu swordsman:

Human (Crane) Samurai 6/Iaijutsu Master 10/Doji Elite Guard 4

Samurai core class is found in Oriental Adventures (and "updated" in Rokugan), Iaijutsu Master is also found in OA, and Doji Elite Guard is found in Way of the Samurai (a supplement to Rokugan).

The Iaijutsu Master's class abilities are frighteningly efficient, and the Elite Guard grants additional abilities that boost the Iaijutsu Master...

Dreadful and concept-clean. ;)

If I was going to build a "Master Swordsman", I think I'd ignore at least some of the numerical crunchiness in favor of the braggadocio, skill with the ladies, and silver tongue that the idea invokes in my mind.

In other words, I'd make a swashbuckler.

And to make one of those, I'd go with a Bard 10/Duelist 10. With a high intelligence powering the bardic skill set and bardic magic/songs empowering the Duelist abilities, it's quite a fun combination. It's also relatively powerful with four attacks per round, enhancement magic, and bard song.

And of course, with access to Intimidate, Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive, he's got all the skills he needs to create his OWN legend -- while he's still adventuring. :)

Samurai 10/ Iaijutsu Master 10....

it assures that you have a powerful magical item...and if you awaken the keen inchantment in a katana and also have Improved Initiative you would have a critical threat range of 15-20 with the said katana....not to mention you have multiple feats from samurai class and all of the IM abilities...like at IM 10th you automatically get your own suprise round even before any other surprise rounds as long as you start combat it melee range...plus as an IM you can make two attacks (highest bonus)with your standard action and still take a full move...

Ranger 1/Barbarian 1/Fighter 8/Corsair 10

Corsair is a PrC from Swashbuckling Adventures. Basically a horribly overpowered religious pirate.

Benefits:

Can weild a falchion in 1 hand and get +4 sacred bonuses to attack and damage

+4 sacred bonus to all saves while in combat. Also gets divine grace as a paladin. Yeah. That's right. Cha mod +4 to all saves.

Smites 3 times per day (+Cha mod to hit and +Corsair lvl to dmg)

Wis mod as bonus to AC

Can fight until -20 HP

Righteous Fury: +8 unnamed bonus to Str, +4 unnamed bonuses to Dex and Con, speed increases 20 feet, and another +4 morale bonus to saves. Also, lets you pretend like you have the Cleave and Great Cleave feats.

So, let's see...if you combine raging and Righteous Fury, that's +12 to Str, +8 to Dex, +4 to Con...hmm..base speed will be 60'..saves are somewhere around +10 to +12, depending on Cha mod.....

And let's not forget the level of ranger which lets us dual wield falchions, each with a +4 to hit and damage. Of course, they're keen, and you've got Improved Crit...

Ouch. Anyone feel like doing the math on this one?

According to the OA errata, the second attack that the iaijutsu master gets with One Strike, Two Cuts is at a -5 penalty.

Hmm. Does 1S2C kick in when you do a full attack?
