How does your group's OOC chatter rate?

  • NC-17 - Absolutely filthy, non-PC, etc. We could make sailors cry. Literally nothing is off limits.

    Votes: 40 33.3%
  • R - Lots of adult humor, but we don't go too far. We respect the more outrageous taboos

    Votes: 34 28.3%
  • PG-13 - Gets a little racy, but nothing you really couldn't find on late night TV

    Votes: 39 32.5%
  • PG - Might not be suitable for the youngest children, but we're pretty clean.

It's hardly a secret that pretty much all groups joke around a lot. It's only natural when you get a lot of friends together, or even strangers who share an interest.

However, I know that every group I've been in tends to be very, very outrageous, and from what I've read I don't think that we're the only ones. Absolutely nothing is off limits for cracking jokes about (and if you pick any random taboo, I can pretty much guarantee we've got at least one running gag that pokes fun at it).

So... I'm just curious how most groups rate. Note here that I'm asking about your usual group... If you play regularly with multiple groups, I leave it to you to decide which group counts as your usual group.

We fall into the NC-17ish rating, but only because we make fun of everything. Anything is funny to us, given the right context. Necrophilia? Slavery? Incest? Rape? Pedophilia? Politics? Religion? Psht. We'll specifically make jokes about Necrophilic Pedo-Incest Rape laws as they relate to slaves and their effects on the major religions of the campaign world.

Taboos are great joke fodder, so long as people don't openly practice them at the gaming table.

Wow, I expected this to be weighted near the top, but right now over half of the votes (9/17) are for NC-17. I was expecting R to be the most popular.

Well, glad to see we're not the only sickos. :)

Some nights R, some nights more like PG 13.
That would describe my current group. My all-female group, on the other hand, used to take NC-17 out behind the woodpile and beat the crap out of it every night.

I really wish I could find some more reliable female gamers... My games are always a sausage party. Only female gamers I know are my fiancée, the other DM's fiancée, and my best friend's girlfriend... And all three of them are really more tagalongs than actual gamers.

My regular group is fairly PG13, we're just not that crude, mean, but not crude. My secondary group however (the three girls from the primary six) definately NC17.

I picked PG-13; that's pretty close, on most nights.

I wonder if the fact that all 4 of my groups are co-ed has a bearing on it?

Well, my group is 42, 38 and 32 so age is not a restriction, and we play at my friend's house (he is single) so hat does not hold us back.

But we usually keep it fairly tame except for some sexual jokes and off-color remarks about our opponents and such. Plus when a TPK looms, we talk about "The Dog" who has a long history in our group since our third level PCs almost got TPKed by two guard dogs. HE is a sign we are probably in big trouble

But it is not to outrageous
