Huge printing error in my Eberron!

Have no fear for Bad Axe, this is not a strategy we would pursue. As I said earlier in the thread, a mistake like this would be a disaster for Bad Axe, simply because I don't have the testicular fortitude to make our customers pay for our mistakes...

TWICE.

Bad Axe would end up taking a loss. Our mistake, our loss, our cost to fix it with our customers-- truly fix it, not "Thank you sir may I have another!?"

Anyhow... Might I interest you in our upcoming Gamer's Guide to Subversive Sarcasm? ;)

It should not cost you anything, unless the mistake was truly your own error. I have never seen a printer that would not reprint for free if they made a major error.

As for Mongoose, I had not heard that they pulled that level of BS. Of course, I refuse to buy anything from them these days. They generally produce shoddy rules and overpriced, poorly designed books. They have not been on my radar for about two years....

I have seen a few errors in WotC and TSR products, and sometimes wish that they had beter printers. However, I think WotC is doing a better job than TSR did of editing.

I suspect WotC will try to make amends to the customers for the mistake, and may SERIOUSLY want to consider better printers and take a few quality control measures. Eberron is an important release for WotC, so bad publicity is something they do not need.

Perhaps they can offer a free PDF adventure or something else to regain some of the customer goodwill that might have been damaged by this mistake.

As for printing errors, I remember one TSR adventure that at the end referred to how many experience points to award for a successful encounter with a bear. One problem. No bear encounter was in the adventure.

Also, novels are not immune to printing errors. In some editions of the Fellowship of the Ring, some dialogue that Frodo says in Lothlorien is attributed to Bilbo -- who is all the way back in Rivendell. It got worst in the Two Towers, where Eomer calls on the guards at Helms Deep to open the gates. Unfortunately, the dialogue was attributed to Eomund, Eomer's dead father. Even great books can have errors -- although the dead men seldom tell tales. :D

"Wait a minute...it says we're supposed to celebrate!"

I had a very similar error in a Warhammer Roleplaying game book I bought a while back. The store took it back and gave me a fully functional replacement. They did get credit from their distributor who, in turn, received credit from the publisher. I assume the publisher took it up with their printers.

In the case of a defective book, who SHOULD we contact - WotC Customer Service, or the reseller? In my case, the book is mail-order, and the company is more than likely to just send me another one from their stock - probably defective also. :\

If you contact WOTC I'm positive that they will have you contact the actual retailer. I know it puts the mail order folks in a pickle, but I hope the proper amends will be made. If you buy a defective TV from Best Buy, you return it to Best Buy. Calling Sony and giving them both barrels may feel good, but it won't get you a working TV set.

The Saga Continues...

I called my FLGS just now and was told they'd be getting fixed copies Friday the 25th. Looks like I'll just have to tide myself over until then.

What is not screwed up in the book (don't get me wrong, like, 90% is fine :)) is good good stuff though. I hope this error doesn't put people off of buying it. You probably shouldn't online it until the problem copies are rounded up though, and you should definitely page through it in the store before buying it, paying careful attention to the Geography chapter.

What were the specific pages T Wrangler?
The majority of the errors seem to be pages 128-144 being replaced by pages 177-192. Note that pages 177-192 also appear again where they are supposed to in the text. So the entire beginning of the "Life in the World" chapter is lost.
