I have a human Hunter in the group I currently DM for, and she sometimes hits at-level foes on a 2 even without that ability.
But yeah, it can really turn a garbage roll into a hit, right when you need it to. I'm usually more fond of versatility in my own characters, but nothing beats hitting when you need to. Especially on a daily, or when going nova.
