I'm watching it now (encore 2 hours later), and this is my second time seeing it. This is a cool movie, and would make a great d20 Future dungeon module. I hope there's going to be another sequel, which actually answers at least some of these questions (like who is really behind these cubes, and why). Actually, given the movies are about Cubes, maybe there should be 4 parts in the series! The only thing is, this sequel does a great job in building on the original, but expanding the basic idea. I can't imagine how they'd be able to do that again, if there ever is a sequel.

Just saw this movie myself. Very cool concept. Didn't get to see the first one though, unfortunately.
My only gripe is that their are SO many unanswered questions:
What the hell is the cube for?
How did the people get their?
What is up with the ending?
Who built the cube?
What happened in the first movie?
etc, etc, etc, ...
but a great and cool b-movie overall
i think it must have been a straight to video movie because there was some edits for swearing....

In the first movie, the premise was basically the same. A handful of people wake up in some strange, giant cube. They don't know how they got there, or why. So they try to find their way out, moving from room to room, but some of the rooms are deadly. And there are strange numbers, but they mean something very different from what they meant in Cube 2. There was none of the space-time alternate-reality stuff, either.
This second one was exceptionally like the first one. A couple differences in the way the cube acted, and (obviously) different people and a different feel (see below).
I will word this carefully so as not to subject non-viewers to the spoiler, but, given certain clues, some aspects of the ending were very easy for me to figure out. (On a scale, I catch subtle things about 5 out of 10 of the times so I was surprised at the end when I realized I caught a lot more than I usually do).
Over all, I enjoyed it as a piece of 2 hour entertainment. But in the grand scheme, I thought it was just "okay." The first one's ending was a bit more symbolistic and interspective (and because of this I found it more satisfying than the second).

Thought I don't want to bash another's entertainment, I'll briefly state why I didn't like the movie HyperCube.
The premise doesn't appeal to me, for a start. Various people are thrown into a strange death-trap for no apparant reason. The coincidental meetings with numerous 'parallel doubles' seem very contrived to me.
And my biggest beef is that the questions raised to 'intregue' the audience seem to be meant to draw our attention away from the soggy physics 'employed' by the directors/writers.
So, there ya have it. I don't mean this as an insult or flame or anything, just a few things that ticked me off about this movie.
