Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

Sure but there are also question marks for people saying it is a success. People should read the article, decide for themselves.
The only people who will “decide” that are the BBC and Disney. Neither you nor I have the power to decide whether it is a success or not. All we can do is speculate.

We’ll find out eventually. The distribution contract will get revered or it won’t. That’s the closest we’ll come to finding out.

I am not saying people get to decide if the show gets axed. Obviously that is up to Disney and BBC. But whether it is a success isn't up to those companies. The numbers will be the numbers. I am saying people get to read the tea leaves for themselves to decide what they think is going on in terms of the show's success level and viability. Ultimately what happens will happen and then people will know how close they were to the reality. But the Deadline article is pretty moderate and gives people good information to make an educated guess. The article could turn out to be wrong of course. But we are always speculating on what the trends are and what the situation is behind the scenes with shows we like. Unfortunately something that should just be simple water cooler discussion about a show's prospects for renewal has turned into an existential debate. What is interesting about the article is there seems to be some conflicting evidence on the topic, so it is certainly something I think people discuss and reason through

I'm confused. It's not up to those companies, but it is up to ... err... me?

Like I said, all we get to do is speculate. Nothing more.

I dunno. Maybe you're using the word 'decide' where I would use the word 'speculate'.

I simply meant people can decide for themselves after reading the article if they think the show is a success or not. Whether it is a hit is just a matter of how many people actually watch it. What is up for discussion is how many people have been watching the show, and whether those numbers are good or bad. The companies decide if they want to continue making the show, they don't decide how many people watch the show. That may inform their decision, but that part of it isn't up to them.

I always felt the ever-so-British BBC and the ever-so-American Disney were an odd couple.

I found it an odd pairing as well, in the states it, at least when I was younger, people who watched BBC shows didn't seem to have a lot of cross over with Disney fans. But then I never particularly liked Disney movies, and never been fond of them as a company
