Hypnotic Pattern

Humor me then. Explain the 'heedless of all else' because if a person is acting as if under the effects of hypnotism then they are certainly not heedless of all else.

I tend to think that the part that says 'acting as if they are affected by hypnotism' as being a descriptive statement to describe how the targets looks not a statement of how they are affected.

I feel that the literal description of the spell is contradictory and needs to be interpeted. Is anyone else using this spell?

I don't need to explain it because it's obvious. And I'm not the only one.

Thank you Nellisir, that was a very good explanation of the spell, it was exactly what I was looking for. It is interesting to note that in 1st edition hypnotic pattern was in fact a powerful sleep spell, but of course that was first edition and there is no way the mages of the beach would carry over any of those over powered spells.

Slack, wasn't hypnotic pattern more powerful in 2nd edition also?
