I'm well trained now, after BBSing since 1984 I've managed to build up this "don't click Submit" reflex. Anytime I find I've managed to type out a response to something that took me less than 30 seconds, or that I finished with my pulse thumping in my ears, I stop and only hit the submit button after 20 minutes have passed.

Even then I've managed to chew on my own boot leather a few times in the past couple of years.

Sometimes you just have to say whats on your mind. Although the counting to a million or billion or zillion sometimes helps.

Although I personally am annoyed as well to see gross violations of the license at this point. With the number of publishers out there, actively helping one another so we don't see these violations... there shouldn't be major ones at this point. And lack of quality control on rpgnow, hinders all the publishers that have been working to provide better and better quality products at that site.

I don't get it... why does it fall upon us at RPGNow to police the products? Sure it would be nice, but we're already way overworked.

Now, if a group of vendors want to form some sort of group to self police, we'd certainly would agree to listen to their input and take items offline.

But I also think that James' idea of the larger d20 PDF publishers getting together and evaluating products for the OGL and d20STL compliance is a good idea.

I guess you guys are right (now *I'm* apologizing, James), but I agree that the buck needs to stop somewhere. Normally, it is with the publisher (and I assume that any distrubutors involved with said publisher have a claim in making sure that all the "i"s are dotted and the "t"s are crossed as well), but who is going to serve that role in this type of environment? You are looking at a whole lot of additional, thankless work, suren...

I wouldn't want to be on the policing side of things generally. I would like it though if people pointed out to me when someone was mis-using my open content and I will send out a private e-mail to another publisher if it looks like someone has been mis-using their PI, IP, TMs, or OC.

No lawyer or publisher here, but now that you know that it is clearly an illegal infringement of WOTC property, should it still be on your site for sale?

No you shouldn't police content, but once you know it is a violation of the OGL....aren't you complicent (sp?) in their stealing? Indeed, now that you know that it is a violation, I'd think you would get it off of your sight ASAP.

As a customer, I don't usually frequent stores that knowingly help others steal, and you may lose me if you leave a product on line that is in such clear violation.

Or am I missing something?
