Just a quick Yahoo search for the exact phrase: "where your dreams become a reality" (apparently his trademark?) brings up 'about 640 hits'

Wonder if we should send his site to wizards.. maybe they'd do us a favor and take it down. :(

Well, back to bashing my head on the wall for me.

and strangely enough, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has no record of him owning the trademark to either that phrase or any variation of "4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons."

Looks like his house rules for 3E to re-capture the Super Munchkin Monty Haul feel of 1E.

He reminds me of someone I actually knew. The guy I knew believed that you weren't playing D&D unless you were killing gods at 10th level.

He allowed characters to pull as many cards as they wanted from a Deck of Many Things right after we created first level characters. One of his cronies drew the wishes card and used the wishes to give the entire party a score of 25 in each stat.

Even after all these years, that person's game still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Bleah.... I'm going for the mouthwash now.

Credit where credit is due!

This quote from the 4th Edition cracked me up:

Prelude

This book is dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien,
the father of all RPGs.

Thanks to him for bringing us and sharing his magical world with all of us.
Whom without we'd be with one less greatness in this world.
Thanks to J.R.R.. Tolkien for all his great inspirational material.
Thanks to him for making our fantasies a reality.
Thanks to him for making my fantasy a reality.
I love you, J.R.R.. Tolkien, may wherever you be, be it with frolicking fairies
or dancing queer elves, may you know that you've enriched my life greatly.
So, thank you, my friend.

And thanks to the makers of The Hobbit animated movie.

Wow! Now Tolkien is gonna get credit for inventing roleplaying as well! Holy smokes, batman...

Anyway, I applaud the effort. Although I lament the result.

Cheers!

M.

You know, part of me* is just dying to know what his reaction would be to WOTC informing him that he, in fact, doesn't own the trademark to 4th Edition D&D.

* This is the same part of me that can’t help looking at traffic accidents, footage of stupid people caught on tape and most films directed by Joel Schumacher.
