I think spells level 1-20 will be the equivalent of spells level 1-9, while spells 20+ will be epic spells.

I'm kinda hoping this is the way it is, although I'm hoping the new 1st level matches the old 0-level (or close to it). Oh, and some of the most powerful spells (notably Wish) might be bumped to the new Epic levels.

I also find myself wondering if we'll still see spells scaling up as Wizards increase in Caster Level. Will Fireball still do 1d6 per level as a 5th level spell, or will a 5d6 Fireball be a 5th level spell, a 7d6 Fireball be a 7th level spell, and so on? (Okay, that's a very crude example, but I think it gets my point across.)

This level of excitement feels as weird to me as the folks who have decided that 4e is going to be no fun. I can understand enthusiasm, but... yikes. :D

Yep. Another weird thing is that these extreme sentiments seem to come from people very new on EnWorld. Which is funny considering that this is still sort-of a 3e website, and I would expect people interested in 4e to look elsewhere... ;)

I'm not sure if the OP is joking or not - I actually agree with most of what he's saying! :)

'4gasm' would've been a slightly better user name. Was it taken?

I doubt it, mainly because they said that a 4e character would start out as a hero. Especially in regards to hit points, they'll be more like 3e's 3rd-level characters than 0-level characters.

Do you mean 21-30 epic levels, or the epic epic levels 31+?

I think wish might be split up into the "duplicate spell" part (which will be a "normal" high-level spell, without any XP or other cost involved) and the "get whatever you want if you wish it right, which might not even be a regular spell, but something special (maybe an incantation?)

Good example! I read that Fireball won't be 1d6/level any more. (Don't ask me about who said it, I can't remember, but it was someone from Wizards)

Give him a break. It's not always easy to concentrate on minutiae when you're this excited. :)

Note how darkness can use words like minutiae with ease. That leads me to believe that he's emotially dead. :p ;)
