Shadowrun Man

First Post
I have been thinking a while and got an idea, in stead of say how D20 modern doesnt work, find away to make it work for me. Here are some thing I thought up.

#1. there should be no class feats, and firearms would not require feats to use except for the most advanced.

#2. there are no class skills. I say this because in this time of age you came gain skills in just about any field you wish, of coure with restrictions like intrests and funding.

#3. Firearms dont deal normal damage but set a fortitude save. The fort save would be equal to the weapons damage dice + 10. Depending how well the character or NPC make the save, will determine how much damage the target recieves, or not recieves, armor would modify this save.

See I am capable of thinking and learning from my past mistakes. I am not a trog (shadowrun slang for an ork or troll).

ok I guess I'll bite

1: feats is one of the greatest things added to the d20 system, helping you to customize your class and abilities, and guns are not just point and shoot weapons that everyone is a master in, sure I could fire a gun, but add adrenaline and the shots would probally be anywhere save hitting the target

Remember not being proficient doesn't mean you can't use guns, just that you take -4 to hit with them, which is fitting

2: are you saying that some people are not naturally more skilled with certian types of skills

You can have every skill as a class skill at some point, you'd have to multiclass but it is doable

3. Firearms are not the be all end all of weapons

just becase you 'hit' does not mean you blasted a hole in the guy's head or chest

it means that the guy just barely dodged, was nicked, or a various other minor injuries/wearing down until you get them to the point where they can't dodge no more, or get a lucky shot and *bam*

If you like one-hit-kills, or characters who will drop dead if the rookie shoots them (even after years of adventuring), only because he had a gun, d20m isn't for you. You better go play SR, noone keeps you from it.

And if you want to take some of the most important (and IMO best) features out of d20, you better don't play to begin with.

Stupid trog.

d20 modern is more deadly than Shadowrun, for all but the most experienced characters. In SR, it's too easy to get enough armour and body dice (and combat pool) than all but the heaviest weapons bounce off.

Geoff.

Henry (or any other moderator): Can't you just nuke this guy? One post I can understand, even if it is stupid. Two? Three posts? Now that's a nuisance. Never understood some people's need to go into other people's circles of interest to harass them.

<sigh>

I'd be more tolerant of this if that guy actually wanted to debate what the two systems can do, but all he does is make inflamatory posts and then just disappear to start another thread on the same close-minded crap. It's textbook trolling. Someone please, as Bamphalas said, "nuke this guy".

I do need to eat and do home work

I have other thing to do then just post my optinion, you know like doing home work, eating and the like. Hey at least I wasen't closed minded like my other posts, so give me a break ok. Now to move on to other subjects

I guess I shouldn't of assumed that most people are COMPETENT enough to know how to work a firearm. Now say I was to use a sniper rifle, Id most likely shoot the target in the head. Now the damage system assumes Im just taking a random shot, Im asumming. I dont know what does SNIPER RIFLE mean. Beside if I shot a normal firearm I would either g for the head, chest, or inner thigh. I am one to make ones shots count just not fire off in his general direction. Now those spots are not good places to be shot and cause alot of systematic damage, bleed to death, deatn, and other adverse effects. Thats why I said firearms should set fortitudes saves. I hope the clears somethings up.

I still up hold my idea feature and skills should not be restricted by class but thats me, who cares what every body else thinks.
