All right, damn it, who violated their NDA? You guys weren't supposed to know that I was working on Heroes of Furry Lust until WotC announced it!!

Oooh! Details needed! What new races are there gonna be? And classes? Of course there's got to be lots of weird magical items with a book of that name. :D

Don't want to go into it right now. I'm still pissed I didn't get my first choice, The Book of Obscene Tentacles.

Man, think of all the Evard's Black Tentacle variants there'd have to be in that book.

That being said, the first spell listed would be Evan's Tentacles of Forced Intrusion! :]

Use Piratecat's houserule:

You get access to all the spells on the default spell list for the purposes for spell activation, etc. I.E., if you play a Wizard, you can only activate scrolls/wands/etc. from the PHB spell list, and no other sources. Clerics can only draw spells from the default list, etc.

If you want to add something to your list, you have to drop a spell from the existing list. It doesn't add spells to the duskblade list, but it does provide an avenue for them to add spells, and it also limits the evergrowing wizard/cleric/bard/ranger/paladin/druid spell list.

In a way, a lot of the complaints are beating around the bush.

The Duskblade is "another option".

Some players don't like multi-classing, and want a single-class solution for a spell-wielding combat type... and some of them don't like the "slightly dark" edge of the Hexblade.

Some DMs don't like or allow prestige classes; remember, they're optional variants no matter how much they show up in every sourcebook.

Not every campaign has to use every class, feat, or spell; but it is nice to have more than one way to accomplish something, since not every method will be available to every player.

Holy crap! You mean to say I actually called that one? I can't wait for it! Maybe it'll be supplimented by My Little Manony's Orgy d20, or the like ;)

Shucks dude - maybe next time, then? You already have two fans, in any case :)

I'm curious about something.

The book has been out for... What, a week? There's no way anybody's had the chance to play the class as written for any length of time. Why is there a need, as of yet, to expand the spell list? I'm not saying it would never be appropriate to do so, but wouldn't it make sense to at least play the class as written for a while, and explore the options it offers--and there are plenty--before worrying about expanding it?

Because the answer is quite simple.

Players want ALL options available. Mine do, anyway. And my options are, practically, every 3.0/3.5 D&D book that has been released along with yearly subscriptions to Dragon Magazine and possession of all 3.0/3.5 Dragon Magazines plus Dragon Compendium excluding Eberron material and miscellaneous junk like Enemies&Allies. Which means, of course, I have access to nearly every official spell released, which are all available to my players and they know it.

In conclusion, they want what's available right then and there, all laid out, and THEN make their choices. Not make them now, regret them later because I later expand the spell list.

That's why. :p
