I hate to tell you...

Welcome to the Internet, home of the crazy people. What I really think is funny about all of this is that most of the people like this are the ones who don't get it. Breeding hate, mistrust and persecution are exactly the opposite of what a "good Christian" is supposed to do. I went through the whole D&D thing is evil growing up, my biggest arguement for my side was "just how stupid do you think I am?". Oh Bucky the fighter died, well I'll hang myself? get real, wow once I get to a high enough level I can cast spells for real........if you beileve that then it is obvious who the stupid one is. My family finally figured out that the music of the rock band KISS wasn't going to make me a horrible devil worshipper and that I was smart enough to tell the difference between a character sheet and a real person. My first character loss was really a tough one for me (I was 10) I had to erase the name off the top of the character sheet and think up a new one, Bucky the fighter version 2, back in action. (Ok his real name was Argon, Prince of Cobalt, who says you don't learn anything in science class.) People who have problems with D&D had problems before D&D and are just using it as a outlet. If it wasn't for D&D it would be somethong else, as many people use Christianity as a outlet as do D&D, as this so obviously illustrates.

Man there's nothing like a good book burning (just like the Nazi's used to do) to show people the way, did he realize how fanatical he made the "Christians look?" preacher dude was sort of scary looking.

Of course maybe I got off easy because the DM never yelled at me to leave the room because I was dead, they just told me to make up a new character, or the cleric just raised the character from the dead. Next time I game I'm going to yell "your dead, shut up and leave, you can't play anymore" when a character dies, maybe that's what is missing from my campaigns.

I was smart enough to tell the difference between a character sheet and a real person.

I agree with what you're saying, but this line annoyed me a little. I have known a few people who have had trouble seeing the line between themselves and the characters (in fact, I was one of them). It's not a matter of stupid/smart. It's the imagination of the person and how they think.

I am not an idiot. In fact, I am fairly smart (no back-patting here, by the way). I just wanted to let you know.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I can now tell the difference. The joys of friends who care enough to remove you from games. :)

I didn't mean to offend, the point was that it's not D&D's fault, as you said yourself, "It's the imagination of the person and how they think." That is something you brought into D&D, you were not possessed by the game or brainwashed by the players handbook. I am a horrible daydreamer, even at the age of 33 I still drift off alot, I have a very active imagination, this doesn't make me evil or possessed and D&D had nothing to do with it, nor did Rock and Roll music nor did my Christian beliefs, It's just how I am. I get very attached to my characters, it's just I know that if they die or if something happens to them, then it is just a game. D&D is not a tool for brainwashing or cult activity, you only get out of it what you bring into it.

I wouldn't get too worked up over this. Remember this came out in the mid 80's, when I was a blood spitting satanist on the suicide watch just because I played D&D, read comic books, and listened to heavy metal. Of course anyone who actually KNEW me had no such silly ideas.

Since then, the vanguard of the looney crusade destroyed itself in a series of scandals and just general weirdness, and most people don't take them too seriously anymore.

Oh, and Twinkledee or whoever the hell from the Teletubbies is gay. Thank you very much, Mr. Falwell. I'll take your insight a lot more seriously now.

the writer of this comic probably hates muslims, jews asians and blacks too.

these things make me sad :(

Funny thing... I checked out the rest of the site and guess what - you're right. He has anti-muslim literature up where he basically calls them pagans, he has anti-masonry stuff posted, and there's more. I hate to admit it, but some of it is actually pretty interesting, if completely misguided. Of course most of the interesting stuff is based on wild assumptions and misinformation.

With an imagination this vivid, this guy would have made a good DM.

The great thing about the tract for Native Americans is that it has no words... because they must be illiterate!

Waahh? I have been slacking on my Chick knowledge. Must find this tract!!!!

yeah, and he's been doing it for... what, like 30 years now? :)

these things are so funny, you might just think he's just been doing it all as a joke/hoax all this time. ;)

One would hope it's merely a parody, otherwise thats 30 years of hate Mr Chick has miss spent, if thats the case then I pity him.

You have to wonder if he'd ever even seen or taken part in a roleplay game or just took what he had heard and twisted it to suit his own ends.

Sorry, but Chick is totally for real. If you can find it through a cool comics shop, check out The Imp's Chick tract issue. Wonderful analysis of a really motivated, dedicated, creative man. Who happens to be a lunatic...
