I dislike this "initial check sets the DC for all subsequent opposed checks" bit, in this and other similar rules. Aside from the bookkeeping of having to scribble down a DC, it means that just one lucky roll from the attacker may set a DC that's impossible to beat.
Or the opposite with a low roll. It means that a grappler can't improve their grappling in subsequent rounds

DC doesn't change.
It's 8 + Str + proficiency for all checks. (Dex for monks).
Thanks! This from the post a few pages back made it sound like the initial roll set the DC for future rounds.

"Sort of. The initial grapple attempt (an Unarmed Strike) has a DC that the opponent must make Str or Dex save against. Trying to escape a grapple on subsequent actions is Athletics or Acrobatics (against the same DC)."

Now that you have clarified, I don't think @Azzy meant it that way, but that's how I read it.

I still don't like it, though. I prefer opposed rolls for something active like grappling and escaping.

Urchin specifically refers to a child. And there are very few non-negative words for transient and unhoused people. I'm sure they were looking for a synonym and vagabond or hobo wasn't going to work.

That said, Wayfarer isn't perfect, but it represents migrants, refugees, and other people who move frequently due to circumstance far better than urchin, which only ever made me think of Dickensian scamps.
We call those PCs. ;)

Probably that it's buried somewhere else like lockpicking. You don't find lockpicking under sleight of hand, but under the lockpick item description it says you can use it to open locks using sleight of hand. 🤦‍♂️
That'll be because none of the skills get more than a one-line description in the 2024 PHB. No room for more! (I note that not even the 2014 PHB included all of the uses of a particular skill in that skill's description.)
