Can you spoil a show that is cancelled?

Anyway it appears John Doe had almost died and you get all this knowledge when you die to help you do stuff on the "other side". People were trying to stop him for some reason.

What a let down, I was hoping for the cliche alien traveler learning about our planet to take it over and the people who were trying to stop him were actually trying to save the planet.

But thats just me.

It's disappointing when a network exec is trying to give away this secret and demystify the John Doe series ... THAT I LIKE! ... as if pounding the last nail in the coffin before it is sent to the graveyard.

It only further assert my feeling for them as being anti-genre and appeasing to the mainstream.

I was fine with them letting us in on the secret after the show was canceled... Just thought the secrect was stupid. Doesn't really fit with the over all feel of the show, IMHO. Oh well.

Not to mention that it doesn't fit completely with some things the show threw our way (notably, off the top of my head- the fact that Theresa, one of the Phoenix Group's psychics, knew Doe; the fact that Digger, seemingly, was a member of the group who just 'happened' to be the owner of the bar that Doe showed up at after his supposed death, etc.)

I think that exec's theory was just an oversimplification, and hopefully the creators, now that the 'secret' is out, will clarify things down the road.
