I need some rocket launchers.

I'm starting a d20modern game. One player insists on being a demolitions expert and wants a rocket launcher (x military backround). There is only one in the Core Book.

Blood and Guts only has one also, the Stinger.

Neither of these appeal to him as he wants something with a rate of fire of 2.

Any military buffs out there that play d20modern wanna suggest a launcher and some stats for it? Or perhaps another source?

Ultra Modern Firearms does not have it yet and D20 Modern Weapons Locker isint out yet.

don't we all want a RL with a ROF of 2 ...*rolls eyes*

Can't help you in Spycraft, all of their shoulder mounted RLs take half an action to load (which a ROF of 1 in that system.) But they do have like HE, A/A, A/T and ATGM rounds.

To be a little more realistic, you're player's PC would prefer grenade launchers instead as a demo expert. It carries more punch than bullets, but you can carry a lot more ammo than with a RL, and has longer range than your throwing arm.

Rocket Launchers are fun on PC games and in Hollywood, but in real life, a grenade launcher would do that job in most cases, except where range is an issue.

I concur with Von Ether -- the logistics of such a weapon as something man-portable is maddening (because it would have to have a click).

Honestly, if he's looking for explosive fire-power, he should look for something like a Mark 19; it CAN be man-ported (but it's generally vehicle mounted or used from a tripod).

The best way to describe a Mark 19 for laypersons is go grab a copy of Terminator 2. Arnold uses a gun (called a 203) that looks sort of like a shotgun, but fires these honking-big shells (it's what he uses to shoot the T1000 at the end). Now... a Mark 19 is basically shaped like a Tommy Gun (meaning it has a very large cylinder magazine), but it fires 203 shells. All this boils down to a semi-automatic grenade launcher, but it's still heavy as sin, and illegal has heck to own.

I thought there was a cylinder magazine for a grenade launcher, but I didn't want to say so and then find out it was some sort of Hollywood invention. ... though some how I don't think ArtyQ's player cares about legality since he wants a rocket launcher.

Granted it isn't what your after but the web-suppliment to Modern d20 has the "typical" rpg (i'm thinking the soviet one), as well as claymores, flashbangs and other fun stuff.

Tell your player that if he wants an automatic rocket launcher, he wants a helicopter gunship and that you can't let him have that for game balance reasons. :)

Also, I think the MK19 actually fires a different round to the M203, it has more propellent and less payload, allowing it to go further, but each individual grenade having less punch. Of course, this isn't a problem since it is a mounted weapon that fired automatically and you can have mutiple rounds fired in that direction.
but I think the MK19 has a weight of about 19kg or something... That's a bit much...

The Mk19 is a crew served, belt fed, blowback operated fully automatic weapon.

The MK19 fires a much higher velocity (and more powerful) round than the M203. Firing it from an M203 (or M79 for that matter) would be lethal...for the operator.

The MK19 has a cyclic rate of 325 rounds per minute and an effective range of 1600 meters versus around 400 meters for the M203.

The total weight of the MK19 system is upwards of 140 lbs. That includes the weapon, the cradle & the tripod.

It is a VERY different animal than the one used by Ahhnold in T2 & described by Mordane76. That was a drum fed semi-auto weapon that is basically an upscaled version of the South African street-sweeper shotgun.

Now as to the original question, during the 80's someone developed a four-shot rocket launcher that was basically four seperate 66mm LAW tubes strapped together. The aforementioned "Governator" can be seen using it in the film Commando (which also starred the lovely Rae Dawn Chong).

Edit: I decided to poke around a bit for the quad rocket launcher. It's officially type classed as the M202...

In the pic below you can find it mounted on the RPV to the far left...
