Woof.

I didnt expect to say the only thing I liked about HG2 would be John Daly. This thing is so full of cameos from the first film and pointless celebrity appearances its barely a movie at all. I've heard the term "breathtakingly American" a few times in my life. As an American, I need to imagine the cultural differences of how this shocking experience plays out for folks. Not this time, this film is so low context making sure to flashback, narrate explain, etc... every call back to the first film like a firm handhold. HG2 isnt just a bowl of "'member berries", its a tube shoved down your damn throat and force fed to you. Sadly, there will be an onslaught of how great bad bunny and travis Kelce and a thousand other cameos were so great! This isnt a film, its more a two hour advertisement. If thats not breatakingly American, I dont what truly is.

I get it, HG2 is a 30 year old left over classic warmed up in the microwave for folks to enjoy again, but damn I didnt expect something so wooden. There are so few actual actors in this movie that, sadly, the actors need to act down to not stick out. Speaking of wooden, Sandler looks so phoned he cant even act like he is having a good time. Worst part, Sandler cant quite bridge the cool suave main character but also crass bafoon that HG was. Also, his wardrobe looks like HG cosplay with his jersey, warm up pants, and unlaced Doc Martens looking like they just had the tags removed.

On the topic of actors, it seems like they purposefully limited them as much as possible for reasons... They brought back Julie Bowen and made a big deal about it, only to accidentily kill off her character in the first 2 min of the film (by Happy himself no less). It had all the hallmarks of a last min script rewrite to include an older female actress which seems really strange with all the effort they made to bring back literally every character in the first movie, but Happy's love interest of course.

The acting has the feel of an improv troope. As if they got togehter some actors, athletes, and celbrities and just said, "action!" without a script. Flet more like a HG exclusive fan party LARP. Its truly unbelievable how unconnected and polished this thign is. Reminds me of last year's "Beetlegeuse, Beetleguese". Just a vehicle to deliver member berries by a team of too many writers who dont want any of their material cut, so it all goes in par-baked as an afterthought of what a film should actual be.

Finally, the comedy isnt bad because its crass, its bad because its simply not funny. They dont just use alcholism as a gag, they also make fun of rehab treatment. Bringing actors in from 30 years ago and repeating the exact same scenes over and over isnt novel; its a reenactment. Been there, done that.

Dont waste your time.

TL;DR
If you are one of those folks who is tired of reboots/sequels, but think maybe you'll give Happy Gilmore 2 a chance; dont. You will only be disapioitned.

Would there be anything else to watch now-a-days?

In 30 more years I will likely be dead for Return of Son of Happy. Which just means that I need to sit through Son of Happy and Shooterson when they come out.

The only cameo I really needed to see in a Happy Gilmore 2 was Drew Carey punching Happy out. If it does not have that then I really never needed to see it.

The Mrs. and I watched it today and both of us found it enjoyable. There were some pretty solid gags throughout the movie which was funny and dumb just like the first one. The time we spent watching it was well spent. It's not going to change your life or anything, but it was worth watching.

Thanks, I never had any intention of seeing this as I did not enjoy the first one for being so very American, so its comforting to know my prejudice is well founded
