its quite possible... To be honest I've never played a Jedi, outside of KotoR of course, so I have no idea just how... I hate to use the word powerful but I can't think of another word.

It's more of an idea to get away from us being a group of Jedi clones, it’s a way to help make us more unique and also a way to keep the party smaller in size. :)
Jedi aren't actually all that overpowered, especially at lower level.

Its not hard at all to make the characters different in the Old Republic Era. The Jedi Order is so insanely diverse at that point. I'd really suggest allowing some form of multiclassing(instead of the usual no multi-classing for Jedi), and opening up the skills/feats/PrCs from Power of the Jedi and maybe a few other books. That will STRONGLY assist in diversifying the players, AND most of the Force skills in PotJ are actually from the Old Republic Era.

I almost want to say I'll GM this...I've got a good amount of knowledge on the era, and plot ideas always floating through my head...but part of me really really wants to play. Hmm...well, if you want to play, Shatterstone, I guess I COULD GM this...especially since(if starting at low level) there will need to be some kind of master around for assistance/instruction so I'd feel like I was playing to a point. ;)

One more for the list AMG - after reading the first three of the NJO series, I have starwars fever again!
I just FINISHED the NJO, so I'm even worse. Nyah! Methinks I'm so addicted now because of a mix of the DVDs having just come out(and watching them over and over and over and over), Battlefront installed on my PC(weeee, die Rebel scum!), finishing the NJO books(finally, go Jacen! ;)), rereading ALL my comics(From Tales of the Jedi to Crimson Empire), etc etc.

I'm currently on a strong Star Wars fix, and I've got lots of ideas for a game all of a sudden...That is, of course, if Shatterstone wouldn't mind me GMing this. :)

I'd love to play too. I've owned the StarWars d20 since the day it came out and the star wars game before that. (I didn't care for it too much, though) and I've never gotten to play a star wars adventure. I like the d20 version very much...

alas
alas

anyway, I think we may have been over that 4 person limit but if someone else GMs they might allow a couple more and I'm very much interested.

Nope, I have no issues with that at all... You've GMed the only other Star Wars game I've been involved in and I know its dying wasn't your fault. :)

I do have some concerns though... I'm not sure how big this type of game should be, and I leave that up to you, but I know we've had more responses than I originally planned... Anyhow, long worry short, I talked to the wife and she would rather pass on this game. :) (Which is okay she far to emotional to make a good Jedi.)

Second, what level are you thinking about? With the slow pace of PbP I don’t want to start to low… I know that the stats for Vader, and other movie era characters, aren’t that high, which is one of the reasons I wanted to go old republic… So what level?

Are you still flat out against gestalt rules? I’m all for making our characters as unique as possible but I don’t want to penalize myself or anyone else that takes levels outside of the Jedi.

What books will you allow? And when do you want to start? I’ve been slacking in my purses of Star Wars d20 books, nor did I expect this game to get picked up so early but I wouldn’t mind the chance to pick a few of them up from Amazon… Do you have an idea where the game will be? Core or Outer Rim? Do you suspect we will travel around a bit or be mostly stationary?

ooooo
and if we do this... can we pull races from the species guide? That would help us be more unique! There are hundreds in there to choose from. Certainly races like the yuzong vong are out as they are discovered during the new republic era and their ecl shift is pretty weighty too...

I doubt AMG would have issues with them, at least as long as the ECL is accounted for and also that as you say they fit into the timeline...

In fact the Ultimate Alien Anthology is one of the books I need to get... :D

Does anyone have a website that lists all the alien species as I wouldn't mind playing something fairly unique?

This one had better not die! Otherwise I'll run all the PCs myself!! ;)

Its Jedi...everyone likes Jedi. :) I've been toying around with how to get most people involved, and I THINK I've got a way. Two 'teams' of Jedi, working on the same overall goal but from different points. I've done interweaving games before, so I know I can handle it.

I'm thinking somewhere between 4 and 7. Either nearly Jedi Knights, or just inducted as Knights. The idea I've got needs the PCs at least in the mid levels, but I'm still toying with how 'mid' level the start should be.

Really don't like the idea of Gestalt for this one. With skill/feat/PrC choices, the PCs can be very very unique. It is a bit of a hurt to lose levels in Jedi, but at the same time, allowing free multiclassing means it doesn't hurt THAT much.

I will allow pretty much everything(as I've got all of them).
Most Important books for this game will be Power of the Jedi, Ultimate Alien Anthology, and the Hero's Guide can really help out in making your character unique.
Only book the PCs can't use(non-Era specific of course) is the Dark Side Sourcebook...that's for me to torture you with. :) Though this doesn't mean PCs might not fall to the Dark side.

General overview of game: Basically, its about a year after the destruction of Ossuss and the last Sith War. Peace returning, but there's still a large amount of cleaning up to do(especially with Jedi that were taken by Exar Kun and possessed by Dark Side Spirits). The game will probably be more in the Mid to Outer Rim Area, as it will be mostly focussed on the 'clean up' efforts in the wake of the War.

Hmmm, I think I'll start a thread in a little with more details, character creation, and division of PCs(if everyone that posted is still interested) into two groups.

Hmmm, maybe half and half... Half for you and half for me... ;)

That's okay, I can always be unquie by playing a Gungan. :D (Mesa silly!)

Okay... I'm lost now but that's before even the KotoR, and Darth Malak, correct?

Good to know we have a backup plan!

I'm pretty sure its before. I haven't actually played KotOR, but I do know the general storyline, etc. I'll make sure to give a good overview of the time period and other details to help you(and anyone else not really familiar with the older Old Republic) get a feel for it.

I'll have a thread up in an hour or so...depending :)
