I6: Ravenloft (adapted to 3.x) - OOC Thread - CALLING MY PLAYERS!

I would be quite interested -- but I would think my involvement in stonegod's EtCR would somewhat disqualify me. :)

On further review...

Original Ravenloft: 32 pages
Expedition to Castle Ravenloft: 226 pages

I'm guessing there is a WHOLE LOT that is not anything like the original. :)

I pretty much stick with the core books, grab one class aim for a PrC and see it all the way through.

Both my concepts are previous PCs that didn't get to see much development as their games shut down. So I know their "personality and history." So they are practically done, they just have to be tweeked with accordance to the player creation guidelines. The only issue maybe is that their PrCs have Special Requirements.

1) Human war cleric/Stormlord (don't expect much healing from him =v)
2) sorc/wiz (debating on which) elemental savant

I'll get allowed sources posted up this weekend, as well as some of my more important houserules for this particular game.

In the meantime, I'm thinking 6th level PCs with 32 point buy.

Dragon Magic. I wasn't sure their place in your homebrew.

Yeah, I don't have Dragon Magic, unfortunately. If you want to post the basics of the class up for me, I can look it over and make a decision.

While Dragon-blooded type PCs may encounter some prejudice in certain nations within my homebrew, The Uldarr Empire (which is the largest empire on the continent) is a haven for reptillian type humanoids. It is ruled by a black dragon of unspeakable power.

2) sorc/wiz (debating on which) elemental savant

Either of these are fine. I have some houserules that pertain to clerics and such (domain spontaneity vrs spontaneous healing), and my own set of homebrew gods that will be in use.

As noted, I'm going to try to get those posted this weekend, but you may want to keep that in mind.

Being a Ravenloft tabletop gamer in the past I must ask some questions:
1. Are the character restricted to born in the continent or they can be form other places and they were drawn to Ravenloft world by the mists?
2. What about the pure races from the Ravenloft core book like Caliban and Half Vistani
3. Are you going to insert the fear, horror and madness rules? curses ?
4. What about some unique classes like the Jester and the Tarot mage?

If you do allow them – I’ll go after a gnome jester (I will find the class info and post it) or Caliban barbrian, If not I’ll think about something.

I think I mentioned this somewhere: This game will actually take place in my own homebrew setting, and not in the Ravenloft campaign setting. I never actually purchased any of the Ravenloft campaign material. So to answer your questions:

1) While your PCs will likely be from the main continent of Ailioth on my homebrew world of Elia, it is possible that they would hail from the southern continent of Aryme or the eastern continent of Falusya. With strange magics and such, it is also possible that your PC could come from another plane of existence, but with the starting leve being set at 6, this would be unlikely.

2) You would have to get me the details on these races for review before I would allow them.

3) No fear, horror and madness, but I am going to use homebrewed versions of the Taint and Sanity rules.

4) Again, I'm unfamiliar with these classes, but if you want to post the specifics for review, I would probably be inclined to allow them.

My understanding is that EtcR is mostly a 3.5 conversion of I6, but with some additions and changes. Old-style modules are often a lot more compact, with a 2-line stat block instead of a 2-page delve spread.

I aware of one [sblock=infamous change]the Vistani seer is a hag in EtcR[/sblock] from seeing discussions about it.

Yeah, I actually started reading through Stonegod's EtCR pbp game here on EN World last night. I DO see a lot of similarities, but most of those appears to be atmosphere and descriptions of certain rooms and such. The actual adventure seems to be quite a bit different.

Although, the cool thing about Ravenloft was it was the first adventure (I believe) to introduce "replayability." That is, certain plot points change completely, and key items change location from play-through to play-through.
