IA: A Teacher for Laynie

*Eirian comes at once, emerging from the forest loyally like a growing noonday shadow. They are unable to find any suitable tracks as they gallop across the forest, so they cleave a middle path until the trees break away in a cascading edge of shrinking flora, giving way to the open plains. It is is now that they will have to turn and head towards one of the three farmhouses. There is a slight barking sound off to the south a bit. Looking carefully, he manages to spot a stray dog barking towards him. It meets his gaze and then turns away, running off to the southwest in the direction of the southernmost of the three farms.*

Vanitri heads for where the dog came from, hoping that perhaps the stray dog came from the house that was reciently invaded.

OOC: New Darksun PbP forming, I was going to stop looking, but Dark Sun is cool.

*Eirian turns and horse and rider head off to the southernmost farm. Curiously, they do not pass the dog again, but before long, they see the farmhouse in the distance. Nothing seems immediately outwardly wrong here, but there are no farmers toiling hard at work in the field, or smiling farmgirls looking after the animals. Instead, a deathly silence hangs palpably upon the place.*

"This looks promising." Vanitri looks for a spot to get as close as possable quietly before he dismounts.

*He moves on Eirian to the side of the farmhouse but behind the barn, out of sight of any windows, as stealthily as possible, then dismounts in silence. His breathing and the beating of his heart seem almost palpable to him, far too loud to remain hidden, but he knows that no others but he can hear their sound.*

"Stay here, come on my whistle."

Vanitri sneaks close to the house, listening for any sounds and looking for signs of a disturbance.

*As he sneaks past the barn towards the farmhouse himself, he finds more than enough 'signs of a disturbance' to weaken a lesser man's belly. The mutilated corpses of the farmer and his family are scattered across the back of the barn, and there is a bloody mess piled in a large circle with a pentagram and intricate sinister runes.*
