Vanitri sneaks to another window, out of view of that guard, and checks for guards again. If he spots none, he will try to open the window quietly (probably put a little oil on the window first).

*He doesn't spot any guards by the back window, although the shutters are closed, so it isn't easy to determine this. He oils the window carefully and then slowly opens and unshutters it, revealing a small kitchen and dining area where the farmers shared meals. The pantries and drawers appear to be ransacked, with the food stacked on the ground for easy access of the invaders.*

He carefully and quietly hops into the kitchen, and then checks for guards in the connecting rooms, listening for sounds of the woman as well.

*He enters the kitchen without alerting any guards. The connecting room to the right seems empty, and off to the left, it connects back to the front, with the one guard by the door. Along the short hallway, a small staircase leads up.*

If he can get to the stairway without alerting the guards, he will slowly and carefully accend the stairs.

OOC: I mean if moving that way would expose him to a known guard. If not, he'll try, looking for guards upstairs.

(OOC: It would expose him in direct line of sight to the guard by the front door if he walked down the corridor and then turned to go up the stairs. Of course, the guard can't see the stairs, just the corridor leading up to the stairs. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I guess not, or you wouldn't have bothered to open the window ;) Check out the Shifting Planar terrain mastery--it is by far the ultimate ability of the PrC)
