IA: A Teacher for Laynie

OOC: Other than his research on dinner, and he may even see if the Lord of Shadows is known in the city too, he's clear to date ;) I'm willing to push ahead the years slowly, baring anything extremely exciting. He'll be wooing Lex, trying to raise Laynie (including teaching her a few freefolk traditions such as dancing, he won't tell her till afterwards though :p), and trying the best he can to pass his classes, mostly trying to take the non-casting ones (Theory, history, geography, electives, psychology of humaniod sexuality*, you know, the basics).

*there's a story to that, I'll tell later.

(OOC: Well, the term isn't over yet, but Vanitri will find that his course of study requires a majority of courses on magical topics, (the only way to get away with lots of those history and geography classes is with Mordrue). And they don't really have that last one--it's an extra-curricular :p)

*Vanitri finds a nice place in Medibaria that has good food, a dance floor for dancers, and traditional Medibarian music played by a small band of musicians. He takes Elektra there, after she disguises herself as Kitty Valdaryne with a magic glamour, and they dance the night away with the other dancers to the quiet rhythm of the musicians' songs. Elektra doesn't really eat much, but she seems to enjoy the dance, although Vanitri's time among the Freefolk has actually made him significantly better at it than she is--she isn't so great for a girl, and so in an unusual turn of events, Vanitri does the leading and Elektra just tries to keep up.*

"See? I told you you need to get out a bit. How else are you going to learn all the traditional Medibarian dances?"

OOC: Well, he'll do what he can, maybe some artifact stuff, and if he must, he'll look into classes that talk about shadow and illusion.

OT: While touring the Purdue campus, our guide told us a story of one tour he gave a family of 5, 2 of which were kids under 14. He stoped into one of the larger halls that was often used for movies while class was in session, and they were showing a movie. The course happened to be "The psychology of human sexuality" (apparently, the most popular elective on campus).

"Well, you have to keep in mind that I'm not a traditional Medibarian girl," Elektra points out with a wink.

(OOC: Illusion is good too--since he's Daryne, he'll need to either pick Illusion or Evocation as a major, unless he goes for everything like Lex. Actually, I've been thinking of a neat flavourful feat for double-majoring that requires Academy Graduate, since I'd like to have students who double-major in any of the pairs of schools for the four houses)

(OT: Ah, interesting--I bet the parents weren't too pleased  :p)

"I can see that," Vanitri says with a smile. "I guess I should be thankful for that." Vanitri spins her and then pulls her close.

OOC: Not a bad idea, allowing someone to select a second specialized school, which isn't realy that powerful to blow a feat on, if you restricted the choices.

"You mean you don't like Medibarian girls, then?" Elektra asks quizzically, her face close to his after the spin. Up close, she smells of lilacs.

(OOC: Yep, it would be restricted to the pairs based on the four houses. So you can get Illusion and Evocation, Necromancy and Transmutation, Enchantment and Conjuration, and Divination and Abjuration. So you can't double up on the big three, plus you've had to spend two feats including the wasted feat on Academy Graduate, which is utterly worthless for any character. I was thinking of adding little perks in addition to the extra school, for instance Mordruee can make Knowledge checks untrained)

"I'd think they wouldn't like me, haven't been well recieved by any so far. Think it's cause I'm male and an outsider."

"Well, I think Medibarian girls do like men. Actually, many of them are quite nice. Layna is Medibarian, and Highborne too. So is Sarya. I hear men often find Medibarian girls attractive, and some of them quite so...Come on, you can't tell me you don't find Kitty Valdaryne to be gorgeous?" Elektra teases.

"There's a little too much empty space between her ears, if you get my meaning," Vanitri says. "But that explains the disguise. I think you look quite elegant when you're yourself. Love the perfume too."
