Dent, who was outside in the hallway keeping an eye on things, stuck his head into the room where the duergar had camped. "Tolan, you're winded? Need a rest?" The dead dwarves piled on the floor of the doorway made it hard to enter and exit the room. Dent kicked at one of them idly, thinking they'd cause a terrific smell in a day or two.

Carradoc leans agains the doorpost, still wary of any surprises. He does not search the room, but will offer to carry the gold that is found. When he sees Damien's interest in the crossbow mechanism, he briefly considers the impact of such a deceive on the mass market.

Thoughts float into one's head unexpectedly of course, even for a wizard. The idea that comes upon him then is of the banks of scrolls, surely magical scrolls, that had been left in the room earlier.

"Before we're done here," he says, "I'd like to go back and visit that scribe we met. I've just had an idea."

Carradoc exhales. He'd been holding his breath while thinking.

"But first let's head to the door here..." (he points to the door at the north of the corridor) "...unless we want to tackle the statues in the long this room that's right here too?"

"If there's no one in the long room with the statues, I would prefer to leave the room unmolested. The statues don't seem to activate until we come near. If Tolan's up to it, I'd like to check whatever lies behind that door," Dent said, pointing to the door at the north end of the hallway (L22).

Dent left off standing in the doorway to the room containing dead dwarves, and walked down the hall. Quietly, he tested the closed door to see whether it was locked.

Aridha shakes her head as she pushes past the pile of dwarves as well. The butchery was not appealing. It was...inelegant? Scenes like this were usually a sign that she'd made mistakes in some way. Her preferred method was to accomplish her objective as efficiently as possible, with as little collateral damage and disruption as could be managed.

But then again, their objective here was murky. Perhaps it was inevitable that this sort of carnage resulted.

There was clearly something larger going on here than a handful of relatively insular cults operating. She just wasn't sure if it was something she wanted to deal with. There were druids involved at some point, it seemed, but Aridha had few ties to the hierarchies and organizations within the Old Faith. Her embrace of its tenets had been a marriage of necessity, and she preferred to stay aloof of its politics.

These thoughts churning in her head, Aridha advanced to the door after Dent to assist with the push. She'd see this much out at least, then decide her next steps.

Four old wooden tables with bench seats stand in the middle of this room, and shelves full of plain clay crockery and wooden platters line the walls. To the west, two windows look out into the canyon beyond the monastery walls. Two doors lead from this room to the north, and one to the south.

It looks like this room was primarily used for meal times. It is currently unoccupied.
