D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Too far to communicate, and the courier is nowhere to be seen. Better take care of those blood hawks before they become a problem Thaliss thinks to himself. He then secures himself solidly to his mount, then proceeds to send two blast of force at two different birds he can target.

OOC: Action: cast eldrich blast targeting 2 different hawks, range is 240ft or line of sight if lower.

Blast 1: attack [roll0]
Force damage [roll1]

Hawk 2:
Blast 2: attack [roll2]
Force damage [roll3]

Question: how many hawks can Thaliss see? Also, what's the minimum number of squares that Thaliss' mount needs to move, in order to remain airborne? FYI, Thaliss will remain airborne and his goal is to spot the courier, then cast hex as a bonus action to give him disadvantage on dex checks, making hiding more difficult.

Tolan pulled back and to the side on the reins of his hippogriff, forcing the creature to the ground. Hoping to get a better view by cutting down on concealment provided by the tree canopy, the warrior dismounted and drew his sword. Prepared for battle, he paused and honed his senses on his surroundings, shutting out the sound of Thaliss' arcane bolts flying somewhere overhead.

OOC: Rolls in the OOC thread

Two birds are blasted out of the sky. They seem to scatter in various directions afterwards. Tolan drops into the grounds looking for the courier.

Following Thaliss' lead, Carradoc targets a third bloodhawk, hoping to avoid difficulties later. He keeps his mount above the treelike for now, ready to chase anyone rising up to flee.

OOC: Chill Touch: to hit [roll0], if successful, damage = [roll1] necrotic, range 120 feet (can't recover hp until next turn)

Maighan brings her steed lower to the ground, no more than sixty feet up, so she can make out the details by starlight with her elf sight. She then takes a course heading northeast, scanning the forest floor for signs of the sentry, a spell already on her lips for when she spies him.

(Moving as indicated, with an action readied to cast Faerie Fire on the sentry if she sees him.)

Perception, just in case. [roll0]

A third blood hawk is killed. The rest of the pack seems to scatter. Thaliss and Carradoc spot a larger bird of prey (large vulture sized) flying low, just above the tree tops, in your general direction approaching from the south.

On the courier's action a high pitched whistle sounds from behind her leather mask. She dives out of cover towards Tolan, but is immediately blasted in brilliant colors by Maighan. She rolls to one side and starts to dash in between the larger trees in a sprint. She fires one bolt from her hand crossbow at Tolan... aimed at his feet. The grenade seems to burst with a sticky sap of sorts, temporarily restraining Tolan (DC 13 strength check to free himself).

The courier is still within sight to all characters (and is affected by faerie fire), though I believe she has some cover from Tolan.

As the courier lights up from Maighan's spell, Thaliss smiles in appreciation. Beautiful and useful, what more could a man ask for? he thinks to himself. He curses the masked figure, and proceeds to send two blasts of force towards it.

Thaliss then maneuvers his mount to remain at a constant distance from the approaching giant vulture.

As the sparkling courier rises above the trees, Carradoc targets it and again s sends out a chilling beam. He attempts no elaborate maneuvers on his steed -- riding is a new experience for hi, but one he's willing to get used to.

OOC: Chill Touch: to hit: the better of [roll0] and [roll1] (faerie fire). if successful, damage = [roll2] necrotic, range 120 feet (can't recover hp until next turn)

Thaliss and Carradoc land their attacks somewhat stunning the courier. Tolan tries to move, but seems surprisingly stuck.

An action for Maighan?

The courier scrambles a bit further on foot only turning to fire a bolt at Carradoc. Luckily for him, his mount avoids it even if he wasn't that interested in any fancy maneuvers.

OOC: Parties turn it seems.

Maighan swoops down closer to the fleeing courier and hefts her staff up, pointing the polished leonine skill at the top of it at her prey.

A spell of the hunt, of freezing the prey in its tracks, so that the feast could begin.

If it worked, they could take the courier alive, and get some real answers.

(Move to V23, descending to 30' high and casting Hold Person on the courier, Wisdom DC 16 to save)
