D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

The best he can think to respond, "I'm in no position to argue. I don't really know much about what has transpired in the past... week? The mines have been dangerous. The sounds coming from the tunnels have been intimidating. I know not what can happen."

How many mind readers are you traveling with, our plans could be in danger! Archandros boomed in Damien's head after Dent's response.

"We could go back to the garden and peek down through the hole Thaliss created and see what we might be facing. Damien suggested.

"If Bruldenthar was a dwarf, sir, I fear he is dead. My recent colleagues," Dent gestured to Tolan, Damien, Aridha, and Thaliss, checking to see whether he had the right of it, then continued, "reported finding a dwarf buried in a shallow grave." Dent stood up, his heavy flail in hand. He idly swung the fiercely spiked ball from its chain, enjoying the weight and heft of the weapon. He'd forgotten what a wicked thing it was. His longing to see it split skulls was suddenly consuming. He swallowed.

"You're badly injured, sir, but fit enough for walking. If Aridha can heal you a bit, you can fight. And where you fight, I fight. Otherwise, I suggest we escort Carradoc to the room he wanted to investigate, and then find somewhere to rest until we're better suited to tackling whatever monstrosities lie below the monastery." Dent straightened. "This group is ramshackle and without order, but they fight well enough. Perhaps they'll say of their own accord whether they're up for more spelunking just now?"

Dent helped Romon to another sip of water, then turned to Carradoc. "You mentioned a room you wanted to revisit?"

"There was, Lieutenant," Carradoc began. "And the takings might be unimaginable if we can pull it off." Carradoc's pupils dilated slightly, and this might be the first time others will have seen a non-ironic smile across his lips. Normally he was aloof. But this was unfiltered greed.

He turns to the Captain. "With respect, sir, you should be clear of this place. We can go rescue your comrade, but with us right now you are a liability. They know you, and you are exhausted." (He kindly does not comment on the injuries and signs of exhaustion.) "We have got you out of that place, and we're not taking you back in. If you will stay on this floor, safe, we can go back down to rescue your comrades. Otherwise, we take you away from here now. I'm sure you see reason."

OOC: This is really a proposal to the group, but I'm phrasing it to the Knight Captain. If it helps, Persuasion = [roll0]. If someone's helping him, it's the better of that and [roll1].

"He and Tolan," Dent nodded at Carradoc and Tolan in turn, "have the right of it, sir. I'd feel better, and could concentrate more on the task at hand, if I knew you were safe. Let us stash you somewhere for the time being until you can be healed a little, and then we'll to arms together once you're fitter."

OOC: Dent's helping persuade the KC. Gently and respectfully, because Romon's Dent's superior, but Dent's helping. Or trying to. Then again, this is maybe the most words Dent's uttered in his life, so being unpracticed perhaps he's failing at persuasion. :0

"Thank you for understanding. Perhaps you will be safe here" (he says, pointing to the nearby door M12, but open to alternatives) "where you can keep the door closed. We won't be long. How many more were down there?"

He turns to his colleagues. "If it helps, I can disguise myself wither as one of the monks, or as the Knight-Captain here. It might help us gain surprise."

Perhaps your spell would be better used during battle Thaliss said telepathically to all, including the Knight-Captain. He bowed his head at the latter, knowing that he must to be used to telepathic communication. I can also ward the area where you will be resting, so we know if you are under attack. With that, and if no one objects, Thaliss begins to chant.

OOC: cast alarm as a ritual in the stair case area.
Anything beyond the size of a rat is to give an audible warning.

Question: I imagine the other alarm spell active close to the room of endless dwarves hasn't been triggered, right?
