D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Thaliss gets closer to the cells, to appraise the prisoner's reactions. He shares his thoughts telepathically with his companions If the prisoners make a commotion, we will likely see guards coming through that door, and I would't be surprised if the ogre we saw earlier is part of them. If we are quick to release all the prisoners, perhaps the guards and ogre will be overwhelmed, giving us an edge in the battle that may come

Sure enough, there appears to be a dwarven sage among the commoners. Dent tugs at the door, it seems locked, but could be forced open or possibly picked.

At this point the commoners seem to notice Dent and seem afraid of him for some reason.

"Please. We need rest. We need food. We need water."

Dent eyed the locked cell door but thought better of attempting to kick it in. Too much noise. "Carradoc." The one-word summons was slow, considered, measured. This was a job for nimble fingers.

Carradoc approaches, flourishing his lock picks and smiling. He pats Dent on the shoulder of his armour, in a friendly way, and urges him to take his place watching the door. "He's one of us," says Carradoc in Common to the prisoners.

He then starts to work on the locks. He looks around to see if Damien can help with the jimmy-swizzle. He starts with the cell that is quietest and best behaved.

OOC: Thieves' tools: [roll0]. If Damien can help, better of that and [roll1].
(If it's prudent to continue, he can do so.)

OOC; I hope I'm not pushing people around too much here. Sorry if I am; I'll be offline for much of the day, and I don't want to hold things up. If we get to the other cells, then please go ahead:
Cell 2. Thieves' tools: [roll2]. If Damien can help, better of that and [roll3].
Cell 3. Thieves' tools: [roll4]. If Damien can help, better of that and [roll5].

OOC: Note that Thaliss will cast Guidance on Carradoc each time he attempts to open a cell door, for an additional 1d4 to his check.
Cell 1: [roll0]
Cell 2: [roll1]
Cell 3: [roll2]

The slaves seem to mostly watch Dent as Carradoc opens all the locked doors. They still look completely terrified for the most part.

The dwarf stands and stares sternly at the group. "I don't recognize you. That armor... it was dwarven in origin. Did you pilfer it from this place?"

Most others all seem quiet.

Carradoc raises an eyebrow to the others, not really considering the prisoners as he does so. The cock of the head asks "we done here?"

Dent slowly turned his head to consider the miscreant prisoner addressing him. "I did. Good armor is good armor, and this has kept me safe enough to find my way down to you. At the request of Captain Hightower. Pray tell, what is your profession? Before you came to be prisoner, that is?" Dent waited a beat, dark eyes intent in the dwarf in the cell. He waited for signs of recognition at the name, and for an answer.

Turning to Carradoc, Dent continued. "If this is the one he wants, then done, yes."

The dwarf seems confused. "I thought you one of these... thieves living among these relics. I am Bruldenthar, a sage from Mirabar. I serve the master of relics. I was captured by a small army of these... crazed cultists."

Some of the peasants, with all the doors unlocked, mill about confusedly and whisper to each other a bit too loudly. They don't seem to understand the transaction of sorts going on right now.
