"But you're right," she added to the kobold. "We need to be smart about this." She pondered a moment, then a dark smile crossed her face. "Do you think we could hire one of the urchins out there as a runner to get word to Alden d'Orien? If he got word that Garra is getting on a lightning rail - a House Orien lightning rail - I expect the station would be flooded with Orien troops looking to lay hands on the monster. Or, if they were too late, he'd be pulled off the car at the next station."
Her hand slid to her pocket, where she still had her Orien token. That, and a few names and facts, would surely get a messenger past the gate.
