Harb agreed silently with Rodrigo and backtracked a ways, looking for a way past the hut and it's occupant without being seen.

Ancalagon

Dusty Dragon
Chrysagon tried to stay hidden as best he could, following his stealthy companions. But he was ready to confront this woman if by any chance they where spotted.
"Maybe she know where the Pterafolk nest is..."

Rodrigo answered in a very low voice - knowing a whisper would carry further "This cannot be some random old lady, living in *this* environment. At best it's some kind of witch. At worse... undead. We can't afford to get side-tracked".

Legend
The old woman sniffed at the air as the Sticks slipped past her, unseen. She made no indication that she knew they were there, but she muttered to herself,

"They comes around but makes no sound;
They climb so high, no fear to die;
They smells so sweet, all made of meat;
They comes around and makes no sound."

She picked up a painted rattle and began to shake it, dancing around.

Legend
The Sticks passed by the city's central cistern. It appeared that in ages past, the place may have had a stone-and-bamboo water delivery system, but it was all long gone now; just a large stone well full of murky water remained. The lay of the land and the crumbling stone structures prevented them from leaving the city by the south-west, as they would have preferred, so they headed into the jungle to the north and circled west and then south.

From a northern ridge, they could see many miles to the northwest; the ocean (some hundred miles away or more) was blocked from view by the Mistcliff Mountains and the land slowly stepped away in that direction, sometimes flat, and sometimes dropping a hundred feet or more in intervals. All of it was dense with jungle. As hard as the climb had been, beating one's way through the jungle to the west would have been even more difficult, had a traveller intended to go that way.

A hour into their hike, the Sticks stopped at a rocky look-out from which they could see an old ziggurat thrusting its way up through the dense jungle around it. It was about fifty or sixty miles away and across a tumbling river that flowed south to a large bay. In all, there were many interesting formations that should be mapped by Tarri on their return.

A nearby tree seemed to be filled with birds, but on closer examination it appeared that they were winged monkeys, chittering to each other and eyeing the strange outsiders with suspicion.

OOC: Time to look for the Pterafolk nest. I'll take Perceptions or Nature Checks from anyone who wants to help scout.

“I think I found the carrot top,” Dellrak told the others. “Or at least where ‘e went. ‘e ‘eaded intae the city. Guess ‘e didnae want t’ wait f’r us.”

They headed into the ruins of the city and found a hide and wood hut and an old crone. Dellrak agreed they should go around the woman and avoid her, both to save time and hopefully bypass trouble.

Another hour brought them to a rocky outlook and a survey of trees full of winged monkeys. “This place is bluidy odd,” Dellrak muttered, scanning the jungle for signs of the pterafolk.

Legend
Another hour passed as the Sticks worked their way south. They came to the southern tip of the plateau where a small group of caves could be seen sixty feet down from the flat top. They watched for awhile from a hidden spot and saw a group of three Pterafolk fly out, heading to the east. Getting down to the caves would have been a dangerous climb, but Dellrak searched the top of the cliff and found a hidden chute that must have provided ventilation for the caves. It was far too small for the Pterafolk themselves to use, and it would be a tight fit for the sturdy dwarf, but it was a way in. One that was very possibly unguarded.

While Dellrak was searching, the others were also looking about the plateau or watching the skies, and they discovered Weed, hidden in a stand of ferns and braiding a rope from a pile of long grass it had collected. It was happy to see them and it squeaked and made a soft thumping noise with its hand on its chest.

OOC: Weed and Miss Imogen fit in the chute best, but probably everyone should go anyway. Gimme a stealth check with disadvantage if you consider your character to be big or wide for fitting through. Also, give me an idea as to what the marching order is. Weed will go first if no one stops it.
