Rodrigo looked at Imogen and raised a single eyebrow. Above? Why would the smugglers not be surprised by the appearance of strangers at their back? Why would they expect reinforcements - all the guards had been stationary? Perhaps she had intel that she was not sharing. Still, the suggestion of standing out of sight was sound.

Rodrigo nodded at the others, waited for them to get into position, tucked his rapier under his left arm and pulled the lever. As soon as this was done he got into guard, blade held before him.

The Nameless took the order as a suggestion, but it was the best so far. He slipped down to the foot of the stairs and just off to the side. There he flipped his cloak about him as he crouched, using it to appear as a large boulder to anyone from the perspective of the doorway.

Legend
Rodrigo pulled the lever, expecting to open the door, but instead there was the sound of chains sliding along the wooden ceiling of the serpent's throat. At the other end of the wood-lined hall, one of the wooden ceiling panels flipped to the side and a large worked stone fell from the ceiling, blocking most of the exit.

Worse, sea water began to pour in from the hole left by the rock, quickly splashing along the floor and filling fast. On top of all of that, the muddy floor swiftly became slick as the water rose.

OOC: Everyone other than Rodrigo is going to have to roll a dc12 Dex Save or fall prone. If you are near the stairs and fail, you will take [roll0] damage if you fail, by being swept into the stairs. If you want a map, feel free to ask about it in the OOC, and I'll make one up. I'll give you all a chance to do something about your current predicament before it gets worse.

The lever caused water to pour into their chamber, and though Miss Imogen was able to maintain her footing, she looked around for a solution to the issue. the door had not opened, as expected. Was there a new source of light to which she could head? If so, she does. If not, she turns to Rodrigo and joins him, perhaps to try to pull the lever back.

As if that would do anything now.

If pushing back the lever could cancel the trap, it would be a poorly designed trap, thought Chrysagon. We don't have much time before the water level restricts our movements.
"There is only one way out and it's through that door. Dellrak, ready? Make way guys!

OOC: [roll0]
Maybe we can help each other, like the one with the less good roll helps to give advantage.

Legend
Chrysagon discovers that the door appears to open inward, is very difficult to find away to hold onto anything to pull, and is designed to be water-tight (at least mostly). Very much a death-trap.

Miss Imogen considers fiddling with the lever again.

OOC: If anyone wants to toy with the lever, feel free to give me an investigation check. You have to be willing to actually touch/move it to do so, though.
