"So, what do we do now? We still need the cubes from Thayans and we need some sort of safe passage from the snakes. And all want to get inside. We could try and negotiate...but none of the parties could be trusted to hold to their end. And Yuan-Ti certainly have advantage here, whoever they sent down with us, they can simply wait outside for anything and anyone to come up and attack."

Myrral looks a bit at a loss. As a shaman, his word carried certain weight with the tribes, but now, with people as different as these were...how do you even start?

OOC: in other words, he is not trained in persuasion :D

Legend
After expressing his concern regarding the strange cubes, Myrral spotted a Yaun-Ti who was clearing the field of the dead. It leaned over the body of a Red Wizard and picked up what looked like a small handbag. Reaching in to loot, the snake-folk pulled out a cube, and then another. The cubes were far too large for the size of the bag, but there they were. The satchel was taken into the custody of the Yaun-Ti.

Miss Imogen watches the aftermath of the battle. It's not pretty, and she's down a dozen arrows. Again, her quiver is rattling its emptiness. Again, she kicks herself at the naivite at thinking there would be a market in this city.

There is pain and suffering around her, and it's not even fully clear why this fight could not have been avoided. These had been lives. Now they weren't. What would her Uncle say?

Miss Imogen does not fully understand the value of the little cubes, and she's not asking for an explanation. Her life is bound to this group, a group that is so cavlier with the wonders it has found. She excuses herself, and wonders if the beans and the magical jug are still on the ground where she had left them. The antitoxin has been taken.

If it's still there (and not taken) she lifts the alchemy jug and places it back in her pack. They should have left it at that godforsaken camp that was struggling so. They would have kept it in constant use. If the beans are there, she takes them as well.

Miss Imogen feels profoundly sad and alone as she rejoins the group.

After collecting the cubes, fuming at the indignity of having to do it personally, Ussal thinks how to turn this to his advantage. One, it seems the bag he collected is more than a simple container. Two, he overheard the plan to take the outsiders to the top for the negotiation. Only, how to make them come after this battle, why would they come into their territory.

Red wizards are hopefully broken, but that motley group may have some power yet. Using corner of a building as cover, he infuses one more of his plates and sends his familiar out. Hopefully, they will receive the message and not kill it. Last time it survived.

The message says "Negotiate. We need help. You will be safe(ish)."

He returns, bringing the cubes to his malison superior. "At least they didn't put pure-blood over me."

“Well, luiks like our bag o’ toys is slitherin’ off,” Dellrak noted as a yuan-ti with metal replacements for limbs and tail found the magic cubes on one of the Red Wizard bodies. “Might be we cuild take ‘em back in the chaos.” He loaded a bolt into his crossbow.

Legend
Before Dellrak could start another fight, a man with the dark skin of a Chultan but with the head of an anaconda walked over and said, with something that looked like a smile, "Peace, sstrangerss. We are not the ssavagess that I am ssure your alliess have claimed. Liarss, the Wizardss in Red. Come, resst away from the ssun. We have sshade, food and drink."

He gestured through the open gates of the crumbling wall that once surrounded the Omuan palace.

OOC: It's particularly hot now (not the least of which is due to the fireballs cast by the wizards) and though we skipped the fight, everyone should be pretty low on resources if we'd run it.

Chrysagon was hot, tired but wary. He had been patching up himself and the wounded in the group... now was not the time for another fight. He looked the half-man half-snake up-and-down and tried to figure out if his intentions were true. Chrysogon felt the man meant no immediate harm.
He turned to the others and said, I would certainly like to get into shelter. This heat is unbearable in my armour. He wiped the sweat from his brow and continued, I think he speaks true and we could get some rest. Maybe we can even come to an agreement that suits us both.

"Well, at least it is something. But yuan-ti have a reputation for calculation and slave-holding. Keep vigilant." Myrral whispers to others before raising his voice
"Peace, yuan-ti. Let us share food and drink and end all this fighting. We all have the same goal."

"Miss Imogen, you might be best suited for these talks? With my help ofcourse, but I'm afraid my bias against them will work against us. We believe in your powers of persuasion."

OOC: @Kobold Stew @FitzTheRuke miss Imogen gains 1d8 inspiration.

Dellrak’s eyes narrowed at the yuan-ti. “Allies is a bit much,” he allowed, looking at the remains of the Red Wizards. “Fellow travellers, mebbe.” He had to agree about the heat, however. Dwarves were used to the furnace, but also to the cool air underground. “A wee bit o’ refreshment wuildnae be ill-suited,” he allowed, slowly cleaning his axes and sheathing them.
