“Works fer me,” Angis said, eying the strange statue again. The blasted thing. He didn’t want to lose his armor or weapons. The dwarf waited as the others got the rope set up. Then he started across, fighting against the pull of the statue.

Myrral collected most of the rope carried by the entire group, and he quickly built a rope-bridge. It was much the same design as his people would use to cross a crevice, but placed sideways, like a fence.

He passed one end to Ussal, who was down the south hall, and he crossed to the north side. When Dellrak stumbled crossing the room again, he was caught by the ropes. The group were able, with some difficulty, to pass back-and-forth between the south and north hallways.

The south hall, as Ussal had noticed, with no turns, ended in a blank wall. Dellrak calculated that the room that had been seen through the crystal window should be somewhere on the other side of that wall, but there was no door.

The north hall ended in a large circular chamber. In the middle of the room, three marble maidens held brass pitchers, out of which water flowed into a moss-covered fountain.

Chrysagon eyed the water from the fountain suspiciously and said. The water looks inviting but we better not drink from it. It's impossible to say where the water is flowing from. He turned around and searched the room for anything unusual, like scrap marks on the floor that would indicated a secret door or a secret compartment in the fountain but did not see anything special.

Legend
Qawasha nodded. No one with any sense in Chult drank from any source of water that they were unfamiliar with. Most bodies of water were infested with parasites, disease, leeches, and worse. Even water as fresh and inviting as this was entirely suspect. To say nothing of how this tomb had already proven itself to be rife with traps. Even the most mundane thing must be treated with the utmost suspicion.

Dead end corridors didn’t sit well with Dellrak. He searched the blank wall for several minutes until he joined the others at the fountain in the other room.

Legend
All the walls in the tomb were carved with unpleasant imagery - bodies pierced with spears; people plunging into pits; death and dismemberment. Skulls, devils, and twisted faces were everywhere. So much so, that Dellrak had begun to ignore most of it. Here, at the end of the hall, he looked more closely at the imagery and the set of the wall. He expected that the wall would probably open, but he was reluctant to put his fingers into the mouths of any of the carved skulls, lest they bite him.

Dellrak rejoined the others in the opposite hall with the maidens and their bowls. “Tha’ dead end corridor might likely ‘ave a secret door, but near’s I c’n tell, ‘tis gaenna require stickin’ yer finger in one o’ those evil lookin’ bitey mouths carved on the wall,” he reported.

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Ussal anchored the rope around his bulk and twined the tail around it in addition to his arms so he can turn his torso and help Dellrack. He is immobilized, but his keen eyes and experience with mechanical things allow him to point out few traces such contraption might leave.
