From where he is, Udit can see that the portcullis is hauled up with a rope from the other side. It is in good repair and Kurzon could probably lift it, if need be.

GM: I don't know if you want to assault these guys or sneak away, but if you do, at the moment you would certainly get a surprise round.

Seeing his companions ready to launch an assault, Kurzon readies himself to rush the gate. Once the first arrow flies he runs to it and using every ounce of his half-orcish frame strains to lift it.

[roll0]

But his efforts were in vain, somewhere the contraption was undoubtedly stuck and the pain in his side felt like he was hurting himself trying to raise it.

OOC: for a moment there I though you just had rushed in without waiting for the others - but I see it's "as the first arrow flies" so we're all good :D

Holding his short bow in this right hand, left holding the arrow, Udit raises it above his head. Silhouetted against the light ahead of him, his companions can clearly see his hand fingers counting down 3... 2... 1...

As soon as the last finger drops, Udit lowers the bow, complete his draw, and lets it fly at the target closest to him.

arrow roll against sitting gambler, shooting from darkness: 1D20+5 = [5]+5 = 10

2nd roll vs the gambler due to advantage (messed up the first time) : 1D20+5 = [15]+5 = 20

The arrow thuds in the gambler's back, just above the back-rest of his chair

first sneak attack damage vs gambler from the shadows (bow attack) : 1D6+2D6+3 = [4]+[5, 1]+3 = 13

GM: Okay, it's on. Kurzon is not going to be able to lift the gate without being noticed, and he's only doing it when you begin an assault, so go ahead and attack. Everyone moves down on that map. You can take positions on either side of the wide hallway, if you want some cover. You have a surprise round, so everyone can go (other than Kurzon who already has). After everyone has taken a turn, I will resolve the surprise round.

Edit: Looks like Udit is on it, too! And reminds me, you are unseen attackers, so you have advantage. The portcullis gives both sides cover firing through it (+2 AC) otherwise line-of-sight is unobstructed to them (but you are in darkness - you used the candle to get into position. Just remember you can see your opponent, but not each other. If someone wants to help Kurzon, they can just say so and he will be able to roll with advantage next time he tries.

Auraia sees the portculis in the way. She could teleport through it, but decided to save that for later. Instead, she dismissed her Psi Blades and picked up her light crossbow, sending a bolt through the portcullis.

OOC: Attack: [roll0]

Aquaria didn't bother with weapons. She began to focus on psychic damage, and looked at one of the men and sent him a psychic headache to rival a migraine.

OOC: Bonus Action: Change Psionic Focus to Psychic Assault. Grants plus 2 to psychic attacks.
Action: Mind Thrust. Make a DC 10 Int save or take [roll1] psychic damage.

OOC: Forgot the crossbow damage. [roll0]

OOC: You could roll with advantage, too, if you want to Crit-fish. Also, where on the map would you like to be? If the one I have posted is too tight to be specific, "Behind the wall" will do. Come to think of it, it's not a terrible place to be pretty much where I had you start, if you don't plan to move up. What's the range on Mind Thrust?

GM: Just waiting on Darko to finish the surprise round, [MENTION=6808932]eayres33[/MENTION] (no rush, just making sure you know!)
