Grumblejack delays his action.

Vordahl remains behind Irena and Gregor as he advances forward.

The gate finally gets to the top and seems to lock into place.

Grumblejack steps forward and pummels the guard with a devastating attack. The guard slumps to the ground.

Asseni advances up close to the door but is careful to stay clear of the dog.

Armides looks at the downed guard with a little smile and a look that briefly could be considered bafflement as if he couldn't understand how things came to such a state. The expression passes and he looks around at his companions in escape.

"I doubt we have much time." He scowls and gives an irritated look in the dog's direction. "Should we shut that thing up?"

He kneels down by the guard and gives him a quick pat-down. Armides doubts the guard has much of worth but he wants to be sure. After a moment he begins dragging the guard around the side of the bridge with the intent of rolling him down into the water where, hopefully, the guard's armor will weigh him down and hide the body. He moves slow enough that if anyone wanted to stop him with a better plan they easily could.

Silhouette steps through the gate on Grumblejack's heels and gives the dog a glare...but reluctantly shakes her head.

"No. Anyone hearing the dog suddenly STOP barking would be more suspicious than if it just went on and on. We should search the guardhouse...see if there's any supplies we can take...and then be on our way."

(OOC - Argh, can't use map...just move Sil to a square ahead and the left of Mighty Jack :))

The dog continues to bark.

Armides starts dragging the guard.

Vordahl remains behind Irena and Gregor as he advances forward.

Then the second guard comes out of the gate house and stops just outside the door. "What? Huh?"

Grumblejack swings at the guard and hits.

Asseni swings at the guard and hits. The guard collapses to the ground.

OOC: Staying in melee rounds. Silhouette up again.
 

Realizing that there may still be opposition, Silhouette moves away from the guard house and prepares a spell to attack the next guard who shows his face.

(OOC - Readying an action to cast Acid Splash on the next hostile I see. Rolling here to speed things up if it happens. [roll0] to hit for [roll1] damage.)

Armides flashes Grumblejack a grim smile. "Good work, Grumblejack. I'm glad I'm on your side." Armides moves over to the guard that Asseni and Grumblejack downed and drags him across the bridge with intent to roll it next to the other where it might be better hidden. Before he gets the body hidden he stops and drops the legs he was dragging the corpse by. "Heavy," he mutters. He looks over at the door. "We take care of any guards in there and it buys us a few hours head start at least." Armides appears to be preparing to move towards the door.

Silhouette laughs. "A few more hours? I don't know how long you're planning to stay, but once Vordahl and the others catch up I'm ready to set out immediately."
 

Skalis, tired of listening to the dog, steps up and hits it with his glaive.

Gregor and Irena stay very still.

Grumblejack steps up and finishes off the dog.

Asseni steps into the guard house and from inside yells. "No more guards!"

Combat over.

All that is left is your two prisoners.

Armides notes Asseni's comment on the lack of further guards with a nod but responds to Silhouette.

"You misunderstand. Even though we seem to have killed all the guards," (Armides seems a little disappointed with the start of this pronouncement), "...it surely won't be long before it is discovered. If we're lucky, we'll have a few hours head start before they come after us. I have no intention of staying here longer than necessary or keeping current company. I plan to hide where they will never suspect to look for me." Armides looks off towards the capital city with a devious smile before turning to Gregor and Irena.

"Now, what shall we do with you? I don't suppose you would give us your word of honor not to tell on us? I suppose we'll have to tie you up somehow."
