IceStorm in Upstate New York

First Post
How many of my fellow EN Worlders got nailed by the ice storm. We went only 2 days without heat/electric, but I know many others that are still out and in worse shape.

Good thing for a blanket and a good book! Also enjoyed Apples to Apples and Settlers with the family.

we in NJ also just started getting whomped with one hell of a blizzard....BUT THAT'S NOT GOING TO DELAY MY GAMING SESSION! NO SIR!

I have also recently read The Stranger....quite an odd book. I reccomend reading the non-translated version of Beowulf and the English version simultaneously...quite amusing!

I used to live in Rochester... my parents still do... they called me last night and told me they'd been without power for 3 days.

UGH.

Ice Storms suck.

I have only one thing to say...

Dude, the west side of Lake Eerie got it too -- Detroit had forecasts of 3-6 inches (I don't know what we've actually got so far, but there's a buttload of snow on the ground) and major widespread power outages. My car got iced real good gaming up at Quickbeam's house on Friday -- took my a good fifteen minutes to thaw my windshield enough to drive home.

I'm in Erie, PA, right on the shores of lake erie. My power went out at 1:00 am Friday night/Saturday morning (just as our weekly session was wrapping up, in fact :) ), and didn't come back on till Saturday evening around 7:00pm. About 18 hours. Fortunately I had some firewood left, and we went to my inlaws for dinner...my kids were going crazy, though. Especially my boy....who didn't quite understand at first that the TV, VCR AND Satellite Dish are all controlled by electricity. Needless to say I heard quite a few "this is boring, daddy" lines throughout the day.

Right now (4:30pm EDT 4/7) it snowing pretty darn good - at least an inch or two on the ground. Fortunately for me this is the first day I'm eligible to park in the company parking ramp. :)

I used to live upstate (high school near Syracuse, parents moved to Buffalo while I was in college, first job out of college was in Rochester), but now I live in San Diego...

Today: Mostly Clear
High: 70, Low: 55

Tomorrow: Partly Cloudy
High: 74, Low: 56

Wed: Partly Cloudy
High: 74, Low: 57

Thu: Partly Cloudy
High: 68, Low: 56

Fri: Partly Cloudy
High: 70, Low: 56

... I think that looks better than Airwolf's April heat wave. YMMV.

Anyway, one of the posters above was from Boeheim's hometown of Lyons, NY, so I'll take the excuse to add a Go Orange to the thread...
