Idea for future Iron DM contests

I was thinking that Nemmerle (and perhaps Incognito) might want to classify or categorize the past Iron DM Champs in some specific manner like Iron Chef French; Japanese; etc. For instance, there might be an Iron DM Old School or Iron DM Intrigue, based on the past winners strengths in setting up their adventures. Then, in future battles, contestants might be able to challenge a specific Iron DM by referring to their title or genre.

A bit silly perhaps, but it sounded like a fun concept after watching the annual New Year's Iron Chef spectacle on Food Network :p. Any thoughts from the Iron DM faithful out there?

I didn't say it was a particularly good idea, just that I had an idea for future contests ;). A Hall of Fame would be nice too.

Yeah a hall of fame would be cool. A little head shot with a brief bio and then list the Iron DM competitions that were won.

Unrelated -- I'd like to see the Current Champion have to fight along side the challengers -- the current Iron DM would have to play one loser from each round, then play vs. the last man standing.

I have to say, If there is a hall of fame, sadly, only Vaxalon would be a nominee.

up until he vacillated, he was the 3 time IronDM winner.

Wicht is a rising star, and certainly Quickbeam is the Current IronDM champ! Let's see what plays out over the next year.

..and let's not forget seasong, who has written mroe scenarious than all teh other contestants combined! (but can;t come up with PrC's apparently :p )

{shields up!}

Drawmack:
That's sounds pretty amusing...especially if the bio was done similar to a roast, or drafted by someone else :D.

Nifft:
I'm not sure I understand your proposal, but in theory I'm game.

Incognito:
I didn't realize Vaxalon had won three times -- that's AWESOME!! In any event, I'm pretty much in favor of anything in good taste which keeps the Iron DM competitions at the forefront of these fine Boards!!

Personally, I think the kind of categorization that Quickbeam is suggesting would only harm Iron DM - because part of the fun and purpose of Iron DM is not just to show off your 1337 skillz as a DM - but to rise to the challenge and become a better DM (at least in the improvisational sense - always a very important skill for a DM - players are notoriously predictable in their unpredictability) - and part of rising to the challenge and growing as DM is having to figure out a way to include "lady's hairpin" into an adventure when generally he is a an old skool dungeon crawl type DM - or have some one else figure out how to include "Book of Infinite Spells" when all they've ever run are low level low power games. . . etc. . .

Plus what fun would the judging be if it were easy? :D

Oh, and Wulf: Huh?

You gotta admit though - he'd be a dead certainty for "Iron DM Grecian Style with Gratuitous Nudity" :D
