If it weren't for kids... (your cute kid stories)

I'm not a parent, and I have to admit I'm not really kid-friendly for the most part. But my best friend's 5-year-old stepson is an occasional source of cute. All of us have learned a new PG version of a popular curse as a result of Ethan's misunderstanding his parents (lucky for them, so they're never embarrassed in public by him repeating what he heard). "Suck in a box!" (take the first letters of the words and extrapolate ;) ).

Ethan also has a solar system painted in his room, courtesy of his mom. We get some amusement out of getting him to tell us about how he's got Saturan and Jupiper on his ceiling.
But for some reason he won't say Uranus.

Ethan's dad has described D&D to him as the "game you can't play until you're 12". That's the only name he knows it by right now.

Hmm.......here's some cute things my lovely daughter Lily has done over the last few years (she's 6 as of 2 weeks ago)

She once referred to a cactus as a 'cactopus'. - My wife and I giggled for hours about the potentially horrible monster that might bear such a name.

Her ultimate classification of ugly is "Shrek-ugly" As in, her grandmother was trying on clothes and she said "Ew, Grammy, that is Shrek-ugly."

My wife and I were talking about rearranging our living room:
Wife - "Well, we could move the couch to the opposite wall.
Me - "Sure, but then we wouldn't have a place to put----"
Lily (from the back seat)- "What's a place-ta-put?"
My first thought was to tell her that it was a bizarro platypus, but I resisted the urge to further geekify my daughter (she loves superheroes, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek.....). I just enunciated the sentence again for her, and she understood.

When she was 2 years old she started sitting in my lap while I DM'ed. To give her something to do, I let her roll the dice for me. The party begged me to start rolling on my own, because she was killing them!

What a kid!
