I'm a craftsy type. There's a product called "polymer clay" (Fimo, Sculpey, Premo and Kato are some brand names) that bakes in the oven. It's a lot like plasticine (modeling clay) to work with. I made about a dozen 3-d pieces in 3 or 4 colors and sharpied a number on each one. Some pieces are a round base about 1" tall, others are about 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick and 1" tall. I intend to make some bigger ones for various sized monsters. I also made tiny "animal shapes" for my druid's bobcat and riding dog.
I've also made an altar, a couple of treasure chests, some tables, a well, a heap of treasure, etc... over time. They work quite nicely.
Round glass "drops" used to fill vases or as magic counters work well; sharpie numbers on them, too.
I also do origami. An origami crane makes a nice dragon, and other simple figures make interesting monsters in emergencies.
My cat Ivan (aka Ivan-you-idiot) once made a very useful TPK.
