D&D 5E If you had to choose between Sorcerer bonus spells or expanded

Was wondering what the general thought would be. I have read discussions on Sorcerers not having enough spells known and ways to rectify the problem. The two methods are increase the number or adding archtype spells.

My opinion is a flat increase in the number of spells known and offer archetype spells in an expanded list as it is done in the Warlock class. Two reasons:
1. A flat increase gives a player the flexibility to create a character he or she envisions as other than what is offered in the archetype. The spells selected by the player is the another way to create a character's individuality i.e. a Draconic Fire Sorcerer who was raised in the noble class and learned to use subterfuge and manipulation to achieve success, not force. Thus this player would choose a set of different spells versus fire based spells or damage spells. And
2. Archetype spells work better in classes with a large number of spells known and the ability to change the spells after a long rest. That is why this was not done with the warlock class.

There needs to be a flat increase in spells known. Wizards get two spells per level plus can find others in their book. I think sorcerers should know at least half the amount that wizards get for free. I don't think 24 spells known is a big deal. If it is then cut back on their spell preparation. There should also be more spells available to keep dragon sorcerers from being just gold/red or white/silver. Also some chaos spells that could enhance or reduce the probability of a chaos surge would be interesting.

I would pefer more spell slots.

Recharge sorcery points with short rest.

Also add 3-5 more sorcery points at start and add +1 per level as usual. or 1 sorcery point per level plus cha bonus.

I would prefer a solution that doesn't require to invalidate the PHB.

So for me additional known spells granted by the archetype, or by feats, is the best way.

Totally disagree with sorcerer getting more spells known.

I find sorcerers way too similar to wizards already. If anything, I'd like to see the sorcerer taken in a much bolder direction with more distinguishing features, more distinguishing spellcasting, and a more unique spell list.

IME, I've found most players running sorcerers have a more specific character concept in mind – i.e. wanting to play a "storm mage" or a "fire mage." It has come up enough that I've wondered if making a sorcerer like a cross between a 3e domain-based mage & the 5e mystic might be more interesting.

So far it seems archetype spells are favored in the limited responses given. Though would love to have a larger response to the survey.
I understand that some do not want to change what is published in the PHB, but any changes, even spells added via archetype, will alter what is published. So I do not think that a decision based on that should influence a person’s decision in how an increase number of spells should be achieved

I would like to see "domain" spells added to the bloodlines. It would be super fast and easy. More spell slots would break them compared to the other casters. If a Wizard gets to have 25ish spells prepared, and change them out from their 40+ known spells, then the sorcerer can have 25 known spells without a problem.

I do think the sorcerers need some extra class abilities, though. Sorcery points balance against Arcane Recovery when used to make spell slots, and additional metamagic options only improve your choices so much.

I have to respectfully disagree about the sorcerer having the perfect number of spells. Having played them as well as conferring with others I have played with and players from other groups, our personal opinion is that they are very limited in spell number.

You can play them however you like and I am certain there are others who share your view, but there are others who are at the other spectrum and desire changes to be made to make the class enjoyable for them as well as myself.

I know players who have different concepts that are not based on storm or fire mage. Instead they want to play a character who relies on stealth and subterfuge. Not everyone wants to play the same "optimal" way and see the sorcerer only as a blaster

You probably only need a couple of blast spells anyway. They have plenty of defensive and utility spells on their spell list. I often wonder if the problem is that players think they need that extra 5th level fire spell or 6th level storm spell instead of picking up a spell like invisibility, charm person, or fly.
