If you've had IE problems lately read this...

For anyone who has received an error message, when attempting to open Internet Explorer that said, "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime error! Program: C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplorer.exe. Please contact...." I found the solution to relieve you of this problem: simply remove your Google Toolbar. I had been battling this problem for a few days, used every trick I could think of and found this was the only thing that works.

Or simply never install it to start with. I had some program that offered to install it but chose "no" at the prompt. I don't need it. I've got google built in with aohell, so why do I need their ****ing toolbar? Besides that, it brings in adware which I have no probs with now that I block all that I used to get.

Actualy, the Google Toolbar does not bring in add ware and will only be installed from the Google site. Same with the Yahoo bar. There are other adware bars though that either automaticly install or try to force you to install them.

I've never had a problem with the google toolbar. My guess is that there is something else wrong, but the google bar just happens to triger it, or it got corupted.

IE crashes all the time, for a number of reasons (though I can't remember the last time it crashed on my home machine, probably some time in 2003), and no mater what causes it, it's always the same error. My work machine used to crash all the time due to Java errors, but I'd get the same message. (Of course, I only had 4 different versions of Sun Java on it simultaniously, so who knows why it crashed  )

Speaking of which, if you have more than one version of Sun Java on your system, I highly recomend removing all but one of them. They tend to trip each other up. I have my computer setup to only use Sun Java if it's specificly called for, otherwise I use Microsoft Java, which tends to be a bit stabler, and works better on some sites.

I just installed Acrobat Reader 7.0 last week, and I had to reject the license agreement for Yahoo Toolbar, as it tried to install automatically (as did some other program). I dunno if Google toolbar is bundled with other software, but Yahoo's definitely was.

Google toolbar is decent, overthough like all toolbars deprives you of some screen "real estate".

I prefer Mozilla Firefox thanks.
Have to say I just started using Firefox and have to agree with you there.

Google is my homepage, but I would never install a toolbar into IE for it or anything else. Even with well written ones, as I'm sure one Google put their name on would be, is just asking for corruption from the modularity not meshing quite right.

I use it so I don't need google as my home page. Also, it saves me a click to google when I want to search. I also origionaly used it to block popups before IE did it.

Google's Toolbar doesn't bring in Adware, it has options that let you block adware and popups. I wouldn't dream of running Internet Exploder without it. It's installed on every staff PC that I am responsible for. But for me, I only use Firefox unless I'm installing the endless Windows security patches.

Have you tried the Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta? It's pretty decent and easy to use freeware for those staff PCs. Not suggesting it instead, but rather, in addition. :)
