Ok, I didn't have starving kids and people in 3rd world countries in mind when I strongly disagreed with another ignore option, and even the one we have already.
I see it as a symptom of a dangerous trend in our society today to try and close our eyes for opions we don't share ourselves. This "zapper culture" where when something is not readily pleasing, we zap away to something else is beginning to degenerate our social aptitude.
As I see it this "zapper culture" is the main reason for the high divorce rates in the western world, because when something becomes difficult we tend to discard it rather than dealing with it. It is also the main reason for the political polarisation of our political climate; when we refuse to accept the points made by those we disagree with, we loose the ability to understand what prompted that opinion.
On the other hand; with the amount of information available to us today from various media, some sort of filtering might well be in place.
But you have already used an extensive filter here. Firstly, this is primarily a RPG site. So that automatically filteres out a massive amount of information. Secondly, it is even divided into forum which is another filter.
I fail to see the need for a third filter, especially one that 'blinds' you things you might find interesting and/or challenging.
As I posted earlier, there are some people I do ignore on some subjects, however that is not entirely true. Actually, I do tend to read their post even more vigorously, trying to see where they are coming from in their point of view. And just because I blantantly disagree with them on some points doesn't mean that they haven't got valid points on others. Which I wouldn't have known if I'd used to ignore option.
Oh, that's my opinion on the matter. You may now go back to ignoring me.
