Clearly, ignored opponents aren't the same as invisible opponents -- but I'd argue that if anything, ignored opponents are less likely to hit you. You're probably paying them about as much attention as you're paying to the ground beneath your feet. That is, you won't bump into them, and you won't stand stock-still if you happen to see their sword swinging straight at your neck. You also won't, however, divide your attention between them and your more dangerous opponent
