I'm back! Uh...now what?

Greetings all! Long time lurker, infrequent poster here.

After a long student-teaching hiatus/nightmare, I'm ready to jump back into the game and onto the boards. I've been contacting my players from one group (I ran a long, epic "2 groups in one setting" campaign) and seeing about returning to the campaign. We kinda ended without the intent of ending, but it was a good place to do so.

Now I'm not sure where to pick back up. Do I insert some down time so that it has a fresher feeling and that "new car smell?" Do I do individual interludes to bring them back up to speed (there are a lot of political/religious/supernatural plot points and characters)?

What would you guys do?

Downtime is for card gamers. We play D&D."

Man I missed these boards. :p

Find out what your players would like. More importantly, do what makes you happy. The DM has got to enjoy the game first and foremost.
