I'm not ashamed! (Simple Life)

Oh, I'm not saying that she's not a shallow ignorant dumbass. I'm just saying that she showed a smidge of empathy, and that she at least had the good manners to thank their host. :D

Well, that is true. For what it's worth. :) Anyway, after my initial taste last night, I'm going to avoid this show like a bad case of the clap.

Polite? Damn man, her first question at dinner was; "So do you all hang out at Wal-Mart?" I don't think either of them knew what Wal-Mart was. Talk about out of touch.
I have a tough time believing that wasn't staged. Watch a couple of hours of teevee and you'll see a Wal-Mart ad.

dravot, who played Simpson's Hit and Run, rather than watch

Keep in mind: As in Survivor, the cameras are rolling 24/7. However, the editors cut it up so that it's interesting. This isn't reality, it's whatever the editors want it to be.

Want to show the girls in a sympathetic manner? Or show them as spoiled brats? Which would the public enjoy more?

That's why I don't watch reality TV. It ain't reality, it's all staged, even when there isn't a script, since the editors can build the script from bits and pieces afterward.

(Of course, I did watch Average Joe two nights ago...)

I thought the Joe Schmoe Show was fun periodicly, even if I only cought a couple episodes flipping through channels, but I normally avoid reality TV like the plague, because, like others have said, it's not reality.

Of course, that was sorta the whole point with the Joe Schmoe show :)

I also watched a couple episodes of Scare Tactics, which is I guess *kinda* reality TV... But I stoped watching that for two conflicting reasons... Only one of them is valid, but I don't know which one. But either one is a reason not to watch it.

I either object to it moral grounds, or for reasons of innanity. On the moral side, I think it's a horrible, cruel show, and potentialy dangerous (I've seen people do some very stupid-risky stuff to 'escape' from the show... and it's only a matter of time until one of them fights back against one of the various "madmen" or "undead zombies."

On the other hand, so many of them are just stupid... undead zombies, mutant men, you name it... and with horrible acting and concepts... That I just can't believe anyone actually falls for them, unless they were the dumbest people on the face of the earth. And the camera angles and shots in some of them are so perfect that I can't see how they were got from "hidden" cameras, not to mention angles that should just be impossible from the set they are in.

And I couldn't get rid of a my television... I like DVDs too much. I could get rid of cable if it wasn't for Stargate, 'cause the only other shows I watch anymore are on Fox (King of the Hill religiously, Simpsons and Malcom in the Middle (Hey, I like it, shut up. :p ) when the mood strikes me, and I can get fox via antena.

Of course, I get basic cable with my cable modem anyhow, and it wasn't much more to get Sci-Fi, so I'm not going to be getting rid of cable anytime soon either :)

That's what computers are for! ;)

Seriously though, I don't advocate any else giving up their TV, it was just my own choice.

I have no idea how much was staged or scripted and how much was really just 2 spoiled people who have no clue what life outside a Gucci bag is like. If they are supposed to spend a month on that farm and we are seeing six 30 minutes episodes, how much tape is out there that would give us a better idea of how geniune or silly the girls are?

I suspect that Nicole would be a relatively "normal" person, but Paris is a bad influence, though honestly I suppose it'd be tough not to, with all that money and attention.

Paris is a bad influence on the girl who skipped out on her hearing for possession of heroin to be on the show???

Seriously, I've never felt so much like puking after watching half an hour of two attractive women before. If enough people watch, this could kill Paris's "modelling career".

I have it on while reading Draconomicon. I don't think they're really "attractive". :)

The awkward moments just get tedious, but the Dairy Farmer guy, was funny!

And, Paris isn't just unworldly, she seems downright dumb...
