So here I am ENworld's Troll saying I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offened anyone by calling you fanboys ect. Its just the only word I could think up that was less offensive the Tolkien-ophile. To the administrators of ENworld I'm sorry I acted Trollish in my expresion of my thoughts about Tolkien.
PS. Star Wars is Space Fantasy not Space Opera.

Ironically enough, reading your thread actually lowered my opinion of Tolkien fans after I witnessed how hostile, rude, and condescending they became just because somebody dared to blaspheme against Lord of the Rings. Now I almost feel dirty admitting that I like LotR.

To be fair, I don't remember anyone being hostile, rude or condescending becuase someone "dared to blaspheme against Lord of the Rings." Plenty of folks don't like Lord of the Rings for various reasons, and usually they are treated with respect.

That's because they aren't trollish, and they actually know what they're talking about instead of making wildly misinformed and insulting statements, though.

Well, the only English-language book that out-sold "Lord of the Rings" in the 20th century happens to also have a very sensitive fan-base (that book being the Bible, of course). Criticising it is sorta like going to the General Discussion Forum of this site and dissing 3e in favor of 2e... um... nevermind!

Truth to tell, though, I actually ended up learning a great deal about the origins of Tolkien's work in the other thread from other posters. Go figure.
