Immortals Handbook - Grimoire (Artifacts, Epic Magic discussion)

Brass tacks, though... I just want to get this clear in my own head. Abilities into enchantments: what's the verdict?
Feat +2, Divine +5, Cosmic +25, Trans +125, Omni +625?

In the meantime I would say just use:

+1
+6
+36
+216
+1296

I think if I start undercutting abilities in artifacts its only going to be abused so I think the above is fairest (but I'll be looking into the situation further when I come to do the Grimoire).

Hey paradox42 dude! :)

For me, it seemed fairly obvious that an Eternal artifact would be something like a Cosmic Cube from the Marvel universe.

Cosmic Cube would be simply a Major Artifact. The various Cube-level beings would be Elder Ones.

The Infinity Gauntlet would be an Eternal Artifact, as would the Heart of the Universe and probably the Cosmic Egg of 'the Goddess' which was created from 30 Cosmic Containment Units (Cosmic Cubes).

So there are three tiers of artifacts = minor, moderate, and major?

How would this correspond to epic, divine, cosmic, transcendent, and omnific?

Hi historian matey! :)

Hope you have been keeping well?

Well lets just say there are three main tiers.

Minor = Mortal...possible divine powers
Moderate = Immortal, or Mortal Group...possible cosmic powers
Major = Sidereal, or Immortal Group...possible transcendental powers

A fourth tier would be along the lines of time lords - Personally I think such items would always at least be semi-sentient, if not fully sentient. So I am thinking that these 'artifacts' would be a sort of halfway house between creature and object.

In a way perhaps akin to the cosmic cubes - to use an example you will be familiar with. ;)

I've been fine, thanks for asking. Busier than I'd like to be but so goes it.

How about you?

Gotcha.

:p

I think you're wise to re-classify, if you will, THOUTU.

It doesn't = THE RECORDS, and I can prove it with visual evidence. ;)

Best!

Just wanted to point this out- it looks to me like you just contradicted your own answer to me in post #285. :) So a Cosmic Container (fair point, most of them aren't actually cubical), as a sort of Time-Lord-type object (being that by definition, it contains a universe and all), is an Eternal artifact (or whatever you're going to call them)?

Or did you mean that when a Cosmic "Cube" is asleep or totally nonsentient, it's effectively a Major Artifact, but when it wakes up, or spawns a consciousness like the Beyonder, it's effectively an Eternal item?

Do you mind if I use the sentence...

"I've been fine, thanks for asking. Busier than I'd like to be but so goes it."

...that seems to sum me up to a tee. :p

Don't you mean THOTU?

I don't think Starlin explained it accurately enough, although that could have been intentional.

Out of curiousity what is this evidence you sepak of?
