Improved Critical or Weapon Specialization?

My character just advanced a level in fighter to 4/4 ranger/fighter and I'm trying to decide what feat to take: improved crit or weap spec. Okay, it isn't that difficult--I'll likely take improved crit and weap spec next level (when I multiclass into a prestige class).

So Mithril Man which one did more "damage" ? Impr Critical or Wpn Special ?

I would say impr critical if you dont have wpn fcs as better... 2 feats for a +1/+2 seems weak overall... not bad... but maybe boring.

I like Improved crit because there are weapons that can take advantage of the feat like a firey burst weapon for instance. So far there are no weapons that are better because of a weapon speicialization feat.

The conservative choice would be Weapon Spec. It's usable against everything you fight, whereas Improved Crit doesn't work against creatures immune to crits.

Improved Critical will, on average, increase your damage by 10%, and not against all opponents. (15% for some weapons).

Unless you do 20 points or more per hit on average, Weapon Specialization is better.
