Would using a wand count as casting a spell?
Bartoficer wants to know.
I'm not talking about your classification this time.Class ability maybe sorta.
But it's s half caster not primary. Also hard if you're counting AoE.

But by RAW, does Rage prevent you from using a wand of Magic Missile or Pipes of Haunting?
Under "Activating a Magic Item" in chapter 7 of the DMG this would be referred to as "casting a spell from an item". Under each wand description it will read "While holding the wand, you can cast one of the spells..." or something similar like "charges to cast..."Would using a wand count as casting a spell?

I'll take that as a no raging wand of magic missile then.Under "Activating a Magic Item" in chapter 7 of the DMG this would be referred to as "casting a spell from an item". According to the language the character is casting a spell without expending a spell slot. So a 14th level valor bard with battle magic could use a wand to cast a spell and then use a bonus action to take an attack.

Agreed. These both use "you" as the subject of the sentence and therefore I would say that yes you are casting a spell and can't do that in Rage.
Agreed.
So no theif/artificer/Barbarian then...
